Nitto Ridge Grappler?

Four Wheeler came out with an initial review.
I'm curious to see the weight on the 285/70/17 in C ply.

This morning is the first I'm seeing or hearing of these. Anyone know more?

I believe that's the Exo Grappler. They came out last year I think.

Ehhh, I take that back. These look a bit different after looking at the photo closer.

No doubt it's the sister tire to the Exo Grappler but it kind of looks like the Exo crossed with a Bridgestone Revo. From the pic looks like it will be available in a 37" tire. Gonna need more trimming for that!

I keep struggling to see where these would be a good tire choice. Overland travel?

In my experience large sold tread blocks with limited siping are not great on any surface. These feel a lot like a new version of this to me - looks kinda offroad-ish, doesn't perform well on anything:

UGH. I remember those. Unable to balance, rough, and not good on anything. I got even more stupid and tried some boggers after those. I wised up after those.

I agree they are going for that inbetween market. I'm just not sure this tread pattern is a good one. If you're not going to have big voids, make a lot of small ones. Not that a groover couldn't make them a whole lot better.

I tend to think Atturo actually has one of the most promising patterns.

Interesting. First time I've seen those as well. Almost looks like an ST Maxx.

Since I've already derailed this thread.... it's pretty amazing what an AT can be turned into with a little - or a lot of grooving.

Yep. Looks like a totally different tire and exactly what those wildpeaks need with their shallow siping.

I like in the coming soon part there is TWO 285/75x17 tires available. When it comes time to replace the Trail Grapplers these will be going on.

I agree that it looks very similar to the Cooper S/T MAXX - a tire I've been impressed with after 25k.

Have you actually seen any for sale? I was hoping they would be out in time for the discount tire sale that ends today, but they are not listed. I have not even seen an advertised price anywhere.

You can have Discount order them. I purchased mine on 7/2 and they will be here on 7/6. Bought them in time for the $75 gift card.

These look like they wouldn't be to loud due to the tighter space on the center blocks. I can't wait to hear from anyone running them.

I've driven about 700 miles on them and so far I love them. Most of the driving is on city roads and the freeway, but we did take a trip over the weekend and drove aprox. 45 miles on dirt roads and easy OR trails. They performed very well and the road noise even at highway speeds was very quiet. Comparing to the Terra Grapplers I had on my Xterra prior to the 4R I would say the cabin noise is actually less (Some of this may be due in part to the 4R being quieter than the Nissan anyways, but still a pleasant surprise to me).

The only thing I would note is if you have never driven E rated tires on a mid sized SUV the ride may feel bouncier than usual. This is not an issue for me as I have been using E rated Terra Grapplers for 7-8 years now and am used to it. If you do a lot of on-road driving and want to keep the squishy feel, you may want to look at a C rated tire as they will be softer.
