Nitto Ridge Grappler?

It rides awesome. Wife, friends and family said it feels the same as stock, but my opinion is it's just a little firmer than that but not by much. The dampening/rebound is more responsive; not as much 'bounce' as stock. Haven't messed with all the settings either, might just leave them where they are as things feel right.

Choosing the correct rear springs will make a difference. I went with the 2895Es as they're light/stock type of springs. Just for reference:

The 2889 is 390mm long
The 2895E is 375mm long and the same spring rate.

It's around 3" lift in the front, little less in the rear. Also added Light Racing adjustable UCAs, they are a must have, helps with the camber/alighment.

One last thing to mention - there's no 'official' t4r BP-51 kit yet; we used the one for the FJ. ARB said they will release new BP-51s around March for T4Rs which will have slightly different valving.

From what I've read, the 285/75/17 C = 65 lbs, not 58. The 285/75/17 C and E are both 65lbs since C is 8ply and E is 10ply...



The 285/70/17 is 54.5 lbs in C

So I think they are actually a bit closer to 58. Definitely ride better than E's.

I just put the 6-ply C's 285's on mine and dig them. Had the 265 KO 2's on before. The Nittos aren't any louder and ride really nice. The 4Runner is slightly more sluggish off the start, I assume due to the added weight of a much larger tire.

Do the sidewalls bulge out more on the C rated? In other words does it look like it loses lift once mounted on the truck and is actually close to its reported 32.7" Diameter?

It looks similar to the KO2's but they were C rated as well LOL

It all depends on the size you are looking for but 260 each is what I paid for mine from our local mom and pop tire shop. The E's were actually cheaper than the C's and I would've had to wait a week or so for the C's. I probably could've found them cheaper but this tire shop is local, I've known the family for a long time, and they are actually concerned with doing a good job vs just running people through the door. I also had them swap some tires/wheels for a different truck that day and they didn't charge for that.

I can get them local as well for around the same price but was just wondering if anyone knew of a place that sells them cheaper. I am probably going with the C 285/70/17. Even though I want the 295/70/17's but those only come in E rated. Those are a little bigger than 33's. I don't off road and its just for looks and highway use.

Tire buyer has the best price that I know of with their 9% off coupon (DEALCATCHER9) and free shipping. However they do charge your states sales tax...... So it comes out to about 255 per tire shipped and including tax.

I used their online quote for oem size ridge grapplers a few months ago. Took it into discount tire for their price match. Ended up paying 190 per tire. No sales tax in OR....

I just ordered a set of 285/70/17 in C load since I do 95% city driving. Will be interesting to see how well they perform at the offroad park. My current tires are 285 Cooper ATP E loads and they have been exceptional on the trails. When I run 15psi the ATP's look like pancakes when going off camber over boulders and large roots.

Initial impressions: Very quiet (But compared to some very long in the tooth Duratracs what isn't?)
Good street and highway manners.
Acceleration has taken a slight hit, picking up 11 pounds a tire will do that I suppose
They ride very stiff. The shop inflated them front and back to 40 psi and I could feel every little crack in the road. Dropped down to 38 front and 36 rear (what I ran my duratracs at) and seems better but will see with time. Sidewall is hardly flexed at that inflation. Keep in mind truck is loaded for daily use currently. full load is about 800-900 pounds more than that.
No rubbing at all so far but will have to see under full compression
Tires stand 33.6" tall at 38 PSI

Looking forward to seeing how they do in the wet/snow/ice/dirt
I'll report back as I get through some of those conditions

I just booted my Cooper MTP for Ridge Grapplers 285 70 17 E. I want to say the noise level is fantastic. There is almost no sound with the grapplers. My MTPs were so loud and harsh on pavement but now it feels like I'm riding on a cloud. Can't wait to test them off road. If anyone is hesitating on getting the E rated because of the fear of noise or harsh on road ride quality, don't.

Same experience here. 285/70/17 LR-E ride great.
