I'm looking for 4WD. I'm just going to wait it out. Someone will eventually come down. I'm not paying 26k for an '03 4runner with 50k miles. That's the norm around here so I'm starting to look further away from Knoxville (Chattanooga, Nashville, etc.).

I have all of the Consumer Reports numbers and have done quite a bit of research. This board has been a tremendous help already and I don't even own the truck yet! I spoke with a dealer this week and he blew off my Edmunds/CR figures telling me that you can't trust the internet. That just tells me that I don't need to buy a car from him.

That is exactly ($30k) what I paid out the door for my 2005 sr5 4x4 with moonroof, mats, and roof rack. I always base my price off of Carsdirect.com where I bought it from. Like the other member said, deal with the internet sales division. This cuts out the salesman's commission. I'm sure depending on the area you can get better and better prices, but $1,000 below invoice is really good. Good luck, and enjoy.

Pricing

I have a SR5 4x4 with leather, signal mirrors, sunroof, etc. Pretty much loaded with the exception of the JBL system and the Navigation. MSRP was 35,730 and after rebates and dealing, i got it for 31,500. I live in WA but bought the vehicle in OK. Hope this helps!

Damn! You got a pretty good deal. I bought my '04 V6 LTD 4wd w/o X-REAS & w/o NAV for $38,600 out the door on May 31, 2004. That was w/a 1k rebate. I know I only got a fair deal as that was the price edmunds.com was showing. I had to look long and hard to find the one I wanted (the one I got) and was getting tired of looking further. I could've gotten a slightly better deal, but I was fed up w/the stealerships and worked out a deal w/a dealership in SoCal who had exactly what I wanted. None of the other stealerships in SoCal had it.

BTW: you stated you paid 34,700 before taxes/plates, but 36,800 OTD, wouldn't 34,700 + 10% (roughly what taxes/lics adds up to)= 38,170 give or take? Either way, you paid less than I did and got X-REAS. Hmmm...I wonder if the rising gas prices in CA had anything to do w/the prices the 4Rs are selling at. Gas is about $.50 to $.60 higher than what it was this time last year, I think.
