Found the problem. Sure enough I looked under the dash (passenger side, laying on my back looking up) there was a threaded rod that is unhooked from a little white plastic lever on the bottom of what I guess what would be called the plenum? It's missing whatever the gadget is that holds the rod to the lever so for now I just hooked a spring on it to hold it open. Heats like a sum***** now. Going to hit the junkyard tonight so find the right part.
