no rear lights.....

whats up everyone, hoping to can get some help , 21 limited . smelled some burning wires . noticed this happened.

1. PCS AND ABS light on to call dealership, is what was flashing.
2. rear brake lights ,running lights and turn signals not working
3. hazard lights worked .

went to dealership they said diode because i installed the plug and play rear pillar lights without a relay. okay no problem.

hear is a pic can anyone help with a part number or wear to get this ?

driver side front kick panel is location.

Is that diode OEM or part of the pillar lights kit? If part of the kit, you will need to contact who makes it for replacements.

But even if you replace it, you must first find out why it burned up. It does no good just to replace it only to have the new one burn up too.

the diode is OEM, it is from the front driverside kick panel..

the pillar lights are a plug and play kit , i had put them in when first bought the runner .. dealership said over the time the diode was taking to much current and it finally melted..

If the diode is OEM, why didn't you just get the dealer to sell you one, they would be the one to get the part number from and also the part??

thank you for the reply , you would think they would . i can show you the invoice . they said my warrenty wouldn't cover it . it would cost at least 10,000 to fix it becouse they have to take the whole car apart ( i'm assuming they where going to replace the whole wire harness) . so when i go there to pick up the runner it was suppose to have all the info on the invoice but didn't . talking to the manager he now claims the he was told not to work on my runner at all...
to be honest i never had a issue there before but to be honest i only do minor service there ....... before i took the runner in i tested the pillar lights they where all working fine thats .didn't think they over heated the circut or wires when i initially tested this whole system thats why i didn't bring power and run everything through a relay...

If it were me, I'd do a little more troubleshooting. First I'd disconnect the battery and check all fuses (in both fuse boxes) with a meter by removing them one at a time, checking and then reinstalling. Also check for more burned, damaged wiring and components.

Then I'd remove all lights and wires you installed; and look for more damage.

You might be able to find that burned plug/diode at a wrecking yard, or perhaps the harness (or partial harness) it is connected to.

Did you check for any OBDII codes?

I checked all fuses under the steering wheel , checked wiring harness under there also see no other damage . Checked all fusses under hood no blown .
I was told that diode controls if the power is sent back to the lights or not. Removed the Pillar lights as soon as I was told by dealer. Checked all the wiring from the Pillar lights they are fine . When hooked up to a 12v source the Pillar lights still work.

try a salvage yard for that part / connector or search ebay for part out cars and request that part. It should be fairly simple to find

2. Why not get a diode from an electronics parts store, and wire it in. Looks like the wires are plenty long enough. Something like a 1N4000 series should work: 1N4001 Rectifier Diode 1A 50V Electronic Silicon Diodes 100pcs | eBay You would just need to be sure to get the orientation right.

thank you , i actually been to 5 u pull it's today. they don't have to many 4runners. the places around most of them pull the part themselves and they won't cut this out. i called a few

i have the part number, is the diode you suggested the right value ( thats kinda what i'm looking for just to replace that diode. here is the part number info . it's to replace the whole wiring harness.....

i just need the diode info.. hoping the smart guys on here can help a brother out or i have a 2021 4runner brick parked outside.

I doubt you will find a part number for it since it's part of the wiring harness, I would suggest going to a pick and pull salvage yard to get it.

If you can find complete numbers/specs on the diode you should be able to find an aftermarket replacement.

i actually pulled the diode, because the plug melted nothing on it. i been to 5 places today . the reason why we love these trucks is the reason there not in the junkyards.. they last

They last but they also get in accidents and some get totaled.
