No running board love?!?!?!?!?

I like mine. Still have them on and I think makes it easier to get in and out. I haven't tried taking them off yet but I will just to see if I like it. We will see.
 
Taking mine off next weekend and putting on some All-Pro offroad sliders on, will have the protection I need for the trail and the step my kids need to get in.. if you want will post pictures after i have them on.

Ya this is pretty much my reason. Also the kids use them to get in the truck & easier when washing truck & getting snow off the top of the roof in winter because it's a fine here in CT if your snow comes blowing off and hits the car behind you $$$$$.

If I still had mine on they would have been badly damaged yesterday on the trails. I'm glad I got 80 bucks for them they day before, sold them on craigslist.
 
See your a thinker. get some money out of them while you still can. i agree rock sliders will be nice. but i have to say anyone complaining about salt come on over to utah! its allll over the roads! haha im gonna get some sliders soon, but i have other things planned first. to each his own
 
I like mine off, but it's obviously all personal preference. Down the road if I get a 3" lift I think I'll probably get nerf bars or sliders in order to make it easier to get into. But now I like how it makes my runner look like it's sitting a little higher.

I bought my 4Runner with what look to be some aftermarket black tubular running boards. The towing hitch design looks the same as well.

But I will never get rid of them. I use them entirely too much when loading gear into a skybox or kayaks on the roof.

One thing I did have to learn is to make a big step when getting out of the car. Dirt and crap love hanging on to the running boards but I seem to be whipping them clean with my pants just fine. :D
 
i think they look way better without em/i always would nail my ankle on em gettin out and i'm 6'1 anyway...have not noticed much of a difference in stuff kicked up, i took off rear mudflaps too...screw the dude behind me ha. once i do this lift and pop 33s under there, i'm taking off the fender flares too. Really, they just get hung up on rocks and destroyed or make your truck easier to bury in the sand...i've done both. ha.

I bought my 2001 new and it did not have running boards. I liked the look. I am 6'4" and got in easily, but my wife is 5'2".

She said get them, end of story.:p
 
I'd love to have a set for my 96' SR5.

I'm hoping I can find somebody local on the forums that takes them off and wants to sell them for cheap. <$50

I just took mine off of my '02, they should fit :) i'm in Raleigh NC.

edit: andddd i missed the whole CO thing hahaha. anyway, if anyone around NC wants to buy 'em, they are red (colormatched to truck...that deeper almost maroon color, i have no idea wtf it's called haha)
 
Mine were pretty bent up. They were starting to look my Runner look like crap. + I have stuck her on sand dunes, and I wouldn't if not for them being in the way. I do worry more about my rockers now.

Be glad you don't have our SR5 ones. Those things are always getting crunched! The rear ones sure are tough though!
