No running board love?!?!?!?!?

without all the way hundreds times better! and why is there an add for runnin boards on the bottom of the page with a picture of a girls back side i duno???
 
I definitely like them WITH, especially since the wide tires spit stuff ALL OVER the doors. I still need to get fender flares because the tires are still too wide... haha

Bought mine without running boards (and it never had them)

Yes, my underequipped 4Runner came with no roof rack, running boards, fender trim/flares, tow hitch, air deflector, none of that fancy stuff. Hell, I don't even have ABS or a V6.

Well of course I got most of that all now, but I won't even bother with running boards lol.

And my paint is jacked all around as it is so protecting it would be like shielding a dead cat from rain... it's a lost cause.

And like mentioned earlier, that gunk all over the sides shows I actually use my truck to it's potential. I don't want to look like a mother with her kids who need to get to school on time.

I'd say if I had to get them, definitely get some Sport model ones that are more discreet... or some flat black tube steps. Line is drawn there.

When you say air deflector, do you mean the rear spoiler?
 
I took mine off like 10 minutes ago....Looks good so far but it's dark out so I dunno haha. The truck feels taller when I'm in it though......Weird. Maybe cause I had to step all the way up on the way in? Might keep em off, we'll see how it looks in the daytime.

so yall are talking about your paint being jacked up when you removed your boards. my Runner has this thick kinda bumpy rino lining stuff on the lower level on the sides of the truck. is that stock?

ill see if i can snap a pic soon and ill post it but ya its hard to see its right on the lower part of the doors and below that. its a different texture. then the actual truck itself. :confused:

I have it too....its stock it looks like really exaggerated orange peel i suppose.
 
haha ya thats a good word for it lol. i guess the limited's have the side pannels instead? but ya that stuff looks pretty tough.

I just removed my running boards and I really like the look!

haha base model FTW
the only options mine came with were rear spoiler, running boards, roof rack, tow hitch, and floor mats. i don't even have power windows/locks. i think i might try to change that over from my parts truck
 
i think the runner looks better w/o running boards and fender flares. if you have one it doesn't look right w/o the other.
 
i have a 98 4runner sr5 2wd. i have fender flares and the running board. i kinda like them but my wife loves them for our two lil' boys. can't wait to get her another vehicle. lol. oh, and why do some runners come with flares?

my 4runner has the same thing. Toyota put it there as a way of protecting the body from rotting away. i forget what its called.
