no start issue after KS replacement.

Two full revolutions is 720 degrees at the crank(bring it back to TDC mark twice), with the timing belt tensioned. Marks on the belt will not line back up for a while. They are for installation reference purposes only.

You're overcomplicating this. I know you had a hiccup with the crank bolt, but flyinhawaiian gave you some good instructions to follow to get it back in time. Don't be scared of this motor. Set all the timing marks, verify the distributor rotor position and fire it up.

do i have to install the tensioner before i rotate the engine over 2x? because i have done it 2x now and each time it was 1 tooth off. would the tensioner not being installed cause that?

Absolutely, you have to install the tensioner! Its there to put tension on the belt when you rotate the crank. If you don't put the tension back on the belt, you'll never get the marks to properly line up, there's slack in the belt. Tension needs to be set to see if you have the belt in the right spot.

Don't pay attention to the belt's markings, its there to set the timing once. Use the markings on the cam GEARS and HOUSING after you do the initial setup.

yes. though I see that has already been addressed.

1 tooth off is common, that's from not getting ALL the slack out. sometimes I will turn one cam forwards slightly to grab the correct tooth, then let it drop back into place. that way, there is no slop between the cams and crank. I hope that makes sense, its hard to explain.

get some 1" binder clips. once you have the belt in the correct place on the cams, put a clip on there, it will help keep it from slipping, as you are getting the rest of the belt in place.

finally got the timing all right... everything is back together and the runner now starts for a split second then dies. any ideas? this thing is never ending

Intake tube and AFM connected? Toyota engines will not run without the AFM connected.

Try pulling codes now that you can get it to fire up intermittently.

Kind of a long shot by try disconnecting your battery for a while to reset the computer. If your long term fuel trim is all outta whack that'll reset the computer and it might work. Doubtful though.

Well the stealership got it running... My coolant was leaking I guess I didn't seal it up all the way. And they ran it til it overheated. Praying no damage was caused. I have yet to see if the engine will start now
