No2 conversion to "power tank"

I want a Power tank but they really like them and want an arm and a leg. A guy I went wheeling with last year had a had a home made "power tank" and I was impressed to see my 35's go from 4psi to 40 in around a minute.

I just found two 10lb NO2 tanks that I had in the attic and I'd like to use those if possible. Looks like I'd just need a regulator and an air chuck fitting. I already have on board air and just swapped out my MV50 compressor for a new one. Today it took almost 30min to get all four from 8 to 40psi.

I am pretty unfamiliar with "tankology" so any help would be great. I'm probably gonna take them down to a welding supply place and see what they can come up with.

You could retro fiut them for CO2 but your tanks (if old) will have to be re-certified.

I thought you had Nitrogen tanks, and that would be Nascar fast for air but NO2 and CO2 are liquid under pressure. It has to boil to make vapor and in cold weather, it could take a long time to fill up big tires.

Buy a better air compressor and may be a air hose rig to pump all 4 tires up at once.

You can use them for sure. They will need to be hydro tested (re-certified) and you will need a CGA320 valve on each tank to allow for filling. Don't worry about using them on cold days. Even at 32º, CO2 is still north of 500 PSI.

It is still 500 psi but how long does it take to vaporize to 500 psi?

One thing you could do is add a couple pictures of the numbers stamped on the top of the tanks or look up which number is the date on it and check how many years before they need to be retested. I think it's 7/10 but I'm not sure. If they are still good why not sell the tanks and go to weldingdepot.com or another place ONLINE that will sell you a new tank. (I say online simply because its one of those things ya can't get cheaper at a store)
