noise from behind dash no heat

2004 6 cylinder 4WD.

HVAC fan motor was making some racket. I have one on order. About a month ago I began hearing a noise that sounded like a fan motor. It sounded like it was coming fom behind the dash even when the AC/ Heat was turned off. It would run for about 10 seconds and then stop. I got used to it and it didn't seem to affect anything. This morning it was a little cool so I turned a little heat on to take the chill off. Low and behold, no heat. I am guessing that this is related to the sound I have been hearing.
Any guesses?

Like you, I got tired of all of the noises my HVAC system has been making lately, so I got under the dash yesterday and checked it all out. I ordered a new blower fan as mine has been ticking for a while now. Also noticed that my air mix servo twitches occasionally, and that causes a ticking noise at times.

Sounds like your problem is the air mix motor or blend door motor. Different manufacturers use different terms. It closes off the air from blowing over the hot coolant in the heater core. If that motor is inop it will cause that door to get stuck open or closed therefore either causing no heat or no a/c.

Part number

I haven't taken this servo motor out but I was looking on Ebay and there aren't many available. The one they had said it would fit the 8 cylinder but not the 6. I have the heater control where you set the desired temperature but it doesn't have separate controls for the passenger. It's a 2004 6 cylinder. Does anybody have a number that I can use to search for parts?
