non-oem key

Anyone have any luck buying a non-oem key and it working? I was looking at this http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00KT...runner+key&dpPl=1&dpID=41u9I8jKmcL&ref=plSrch hoping it'll work. My wife and I have one key for the two of us, and she's really good at losing them. Anyone know if a dealership will give me trouble if I take that in there for them to program it to my truck?

No need to take it to the dealership. You can program it yourself. I can vouch for the process working with unprogrammed legitimate Toyota keys. It'll probably work with non-OEM as well.

How do I know if the key I have is the master? That may be a stupid question, but I bought ithe truck used.

If the key you have is an original and is black, it is a master key.

Mine came with an oem and an ilco (owner lost one key and had one made at a locksmith). Both are programmable using the diy method listed in the forum.

I am getting mine tomorrow along with 2 Fobs that means I will have 3 keys and 4 Fobs.
I think can only have up to 3 Fobs programed though ?
