Non Power Antenna to Tacoma Whip

Wait...so if I buy only #86309-AA040 (POLE SUB-ASSY, PULL TOP ANTENNA), that's all I'd need to convert my power 4Runner antenna to the black Tacoma whip antenna?

No, if you want the Taco mod. You will need to buy the whole assembly (86300-35090)
That comes with a silver mast.

If you want a black mast "Like the Tacos have"
then you will have to buy (86309-aa040) also.

My question, if I can't be more clearer, is that if I already have a Non Power Antenna Assembly, do I need to buy the one for the Tacoma Whip.

No one can give you that answer. If you remove your antenna, and there is a bolt sticking up, and it fits the Taco whip, you're gold. You're the first person to come from where you are so it's kinda up to you now.

You either buy the whole Taco whip + antenna lead and replace the whole shebang or just buy the whip and start scrounging junkyards for the pieces that you don't have once you start disassembling.

Otherwise, I think "we" have run out of ideas....

yeah we can;t tell you this you just have to buy the mast and find out, it depends on the threading i.e. pitch,size of rod,and length . and if they all match up with whatever unit you have in there, it looks after market to me so there's no telling, but if it's a stock unit that i have never seen before i would imgine it would work, if not just buy the stock non motor unit from a junk yard and complete the conversion, like other have said if you buy the mount assy from the dealer it comes with a silver mast and if you want a black one you have to buy that separate.

I just bought from the dealer Part # 86300-35090 (antenna assembly)
It comes with a silver mast in the box and everything to install it.
It's pretty cheap considering that a power mast alone is close in price to the Taco assembly.

If you want the black mast you can buy the other part # 86309-aa040

Ok I just did this, took me about 1.5 hours.
-My 4Runner antenna was already crapped out when I purchased it, recently I unplugged the motor so that I wouldn't hear the motor running when I turned on the radio. But recently I got sick of looking at the nasty old rusted "up and down" antenna.
-I reviewed this thread.
-I called one dealership, called out the part number (Part # 86300-35090), he didn't have it but referred me to another dealership one in town.
-I go to the dealership who has it, again called out part # 86300-35090 along with part # 86309-aa040 just to see what the latter one was.
-If you get part # 86300-35090 you will get a silver mast, and EVERYTHING needed to convert to the Taco antenna.
-You DON'T need to get part # 86309-aa040 as it just a black mast. That is unless you want a black mast.
