I don't think you need to rush to put it on for winter from a cooling standpoint, unless there is something wrong with your radiator. Your OEM equipment should be doing the job just fine, assuming everything is in working order.
Now if you want peace of mind from the milkshake than do it ASAP! And I would recommend doing it ASAP, especially if you don't know how old the radiator is.
I'm waiting to see what Santa brings, but I plan on using the bigger cooler. One day, there will be charged air, so the better cooler is going to be safer. Also, Tahoe trips will be safer. I'd say for you go for the 70264.
