The last time I was up there was before they blew-up Gate Keeper and Little Sluice (2005). From what I understand, 33, armor and sliders would be a bare minimum. I know that past Little Sluice, it gets even more difficult.

Thanks. I'm partial to the early 3rd Gens because I'm not a huge fan of driver assisted systems. I also happen to really like the way they look.
When I first picked this up 2 years ago it was for my wife. It's was her DD and still is. I had build plans for it since day one though. Two years ago her DD was a stock 97 with the running boards still on.
Now it's lifted, fully armored, dual locked and dual cased. The build plan was always pretty simple. Make a truck that you could drive across the country and hit 90% of the hard trails without worries. That plan is now realized and sitting in my driveway. lol

Very nice! When I got into harder trail, mainly looking for fishing spots not your average Joe can get to.
Most of the guys 5yrs ago where running 3rdgens, or older. All of them moved on from them though.
Yea, wasn't to fond of all that electrical stuff either, some of the stuff I found a little useful now that I know how to work with it. Some of them now just have a kill switch.

We should compare notes sometimes. One of my other hobbies is fishing. Goldens are my preferred trout and I've spent a lot of time pursuing them. I've lived on the East Side for 14 years. There is no place better in the US for quality Golden fisheries. Lots of the lakes require some brutal hiking but a few are drive up or at least drive very close. lol

I have no problems with that. Just last yr was the first I been fishing on the E Sierras. Kinney res. Did pretty good there. Always heard great fishing on your side.
I have a side kick, hes on the TW form, and we kinda do the same. Hes got the time to do the DFG research, planting schedule, ect. State worker. I usually catch them, lol.

Might as well jump into an 800+ post thread with a couple pics from the weekend. Was mainly mountain biking in Downieville and South Tahoe, but got the 4runner out on Sierra Buttes and Genoa Peak in the afternoons.
Sierra buttes is a fun shelf road out of Sierra City. The spur trail to the Buttes had a couple fun steep spots.
Genoa Peak probably has good views when there isn't so much smoke. Mostly easy with a couple loose rocky sections. Went up there looking to find a spot to camp with a view. Looked like there were some roads out to a good spot on Google earth, but they turned out to be moto trails/singletrack.
Good weekend, bonus was checking out [MENTION=134661]Xtremluck[/MENTION] 's 4runner (nice!) at OTE and sharing a shuttle to Luther Pass.
