I was thinking of going to Prairie city to play in the mud for awhile before running some errands... haha

I still haven't been to Prairie city, I was thinking about checking out bowman lake this Saturday. I was there a few weeks back and had a pretty good time.

Alrighty then folks! We are getting a bit closer to Easter weekend, the weekend in which I'll be out camping with a few friends of mine over at Indian Springs off the 80 in Tahoe National forest. March29th-April 1st, if weather permits, but I may head up March 30th which is a Friday, early morning. I have that day off Govt. Jobs ftw!

Fairly certain most of you have been through already, it's a koo spot I like to hit it's about 2-3 miles inside along the Yuba river. Wheeling can happen there as the trail for Fodryce and Signal are accessible from there. Little update on the trails I've been through, there are water crossings that are decently high. I'm on 35s and water covered my tires just to give you an idea. I welcome anyone who wants to come and have no problem camping in the snow. Elevation is about 5000 and as long as it doesn't heat up too much there will be snow. Later in the week or possibly next week if anyone wishes to join and needs to know how to get there I"ll post the route the area or I can come out to the staging area and lead from there. Hope to see y'all out there.

Interesting.. wonder if I can talk Rachael into a snow camping trip...

It is snowed in. Trail head is at 7,000 ft. There was 4 ft of snow at 5,000 ft last weekend on top of the previous 4 ft.

Copy that, corral hollow is a no-go. It looks like I'll targeting lake Bowman this weekend.

I'm a maybe at this time since I was planning to spend the day around town with the GF. Maybe she'll tag along if we decide to go...

I can't speak to current conditions, but we went about a month ago and we had a guy in a stock tacoma with us. He did pretty well.

I'd imagine there would be a bit more snow this time around.

I gotta pick one up... The problem is, even with the volume turned all the way up, the noise is so dim, I can't hear anything. But if you listen carefully, I can still hear conversations, and transmit

Is it meant for CB or ham? I just bought one for ham and it looks like yours.

It's mean't for CB. It's a Midland 18-2442. The weird thing is that it was working last year, I think until october(?). The run we did to High Lakes was the first time I used it in awhile, and was the first time it had problems. Between then and that run, I didn't change anything....:smow:

Did you ever power it on without the antenna and key it for a long period of time? Maybe the roofrack is making a bad ground plane?

Never have I done that.

I have the magnetic base sticking straight to the roof and it was working fine before... :shrug:

Edit:
I pulled apart the antenna to inspect the connections are good and not loose. A few days back when I had my dash pulled apart I also made sure it's getting the correct voltage, and that it's grounded properly. I might end up sending the unit to cobra to get it warantied, if only I can find the receipt.
