Nor Cal Wheeling, Camping and BS - 2018

I think I will just wait for the next run guys I'm not sure where you guys are gonna wheel yet but I don't know how far the trails are and I would like to be prepaired ahead of time to wheel, I'm close to Sacramento I think I will just hit prairie city Sunday i know you guys just went but It's been a while for me I'm gonna take my Tacoma,, but I am still down to meet up for the next run,,, by any chance do you guys know of any shop or local that rebuilds coilovers I got one leaking shock oil on my 4runner ?

I don't know anything local, but I was going to send my coilovers on my Subaru over to Feal suspension for them to tear it down, re-valve and rebuild them, but I ended up getting a killer deal on a new set of suspension through my buddy. I was going to go with Feal since my buddy re-valved and rebuilt his Ohlins through them for his track car, and they did an extremely good job. Ohlins ride super well out of the box, but damn... After Feal touched them... my god... Don't know if they'll work on Icons(I assume those are blown from your signature), but it might be worth it to ask them if they do if you can't find anything else.

I’ll do it
Just buy the rebuild kit and oil.
It’s actually really simple.
They only sell the oil in gallons but it will last you a couple rebuilds.
The o-ring kits are only about $40 if I remember correctly. For a Fox coilover & shock anyway, I doubt it would be much different on anything else.
If you want to re valve, than that’s just extra parts labor wise it’s the same.
The only thing I don’t have access to is the nitrogen but we can go to any big o or welding shop and have them fill the coils to whatever pressure you like, or whatever comes in there from factory.

Clutch on the taco started slipping this week :/ and with only 60k miles on it... don't know if I want to chance driving into the mountains until I get it replaced. Currently doing some research and trying to figure out which kit I want to go with. So much for wheeling....

thanks guys I appreciate it,, Markamisprime I will let you know when I get the re build kit once I get some extra cash for the 4runner I don't really use it much only for wheeling so I will try to get this done

Hey, just found this thread. I'm in South Rancho close to White Rock. Although my 5th gen is still stock trail, I'm down to do some easier trails or prairie city.

Any recommended suspension install places? I'm undecided between Icon S2 and Toytec Ultimate, but looking to get that in next 2 months.

No, unfortunately I dont have a recommendation on where to get a suspension installed... if I had to do it over again... I'd probably try it myself in my garage. Brenan at Trail4runner.com might... he's pulling together a lot of 5th gen specific stuff on his website.

Funny you snapped that picture on Latrobe Rd last weekend... I ended up bombing down it Saturday afternoon in between some errands I was running. I didnt get pictures... but it sure was a fun little "short-cut" :bigok:

PS [MENTION=157695]theoutbackdream[/MENTION] ... FWIW I can confirm that that road goes all the way through to Latrobe Road in El Dorado Hills (well, technically I think its the little town of Latrobe south of EDH...) ... and no crackies or old guys with shotguns (at least last Saturday)

Yes I was offered help from a Jeep guy with payment in beer, might go that route. But it would be better with someone that has experience with KDSS, there seem to be some leveling issues.

The road is called S Shingle Rd, runs between Latrobe Rd (starts in Latrobe City) and Scott Rd.
 
Soooooo Since we failed the last time around, I vote we go back to High Lakes on last weekend of April? Any takers? I would like to go up Saturday, wheel around for the good part of the day, camp out for the night, wheel around during Sunday and head home NLT noon?

Glad there were no crackies or guys with shotguns... My subaru buds did say it happened once... But once is enough to want to carry a Ccw when out there... Lol

Yea... I'm aching to get out.. I've been thinking about heading to Hollister though, since I'll be in that area visiting my family. But.. That'd be a long drive for ya and kinda a big f you if I just said see ya in the bay and let you drive back up here. Haha

There is frank Raines ohv and Knoxville...

Ahh... Yea... About KDSS..... No thanks. Lol

There are a few writeups I'm sure you can follow. I didn't have kdss, so I didn't have to deal with that. Otherwise, I'd offer to help out...
