I've only read of how hard Fordyce is. Apparently you're supposed to contact PG&E or some such to see about water levels. That's what my older trail book says.

On another note, Poker Flat is on my list for a long day trip if we wanted to try and organize for fall ish. Just a thought.

There's a website called dreamflows which shows the CFS. Really want under 400, 250 is much better. Went through one night and it was about 4 ft deep and moving. Was not very fun.

I would not run in an IFS rig. Pretty certain 37's are the new born to run that trail.

Just to give you an idea of what Fordyce used to be like. The '81 was 2001 - 2002 and the '92 was 2003. The trail has only gotten tougher over the years.

Drive Line Hill, this is the first real obstacle


Approach to Winch Hill 1, ever more difficult at the top


Just some where along the trail near some old ruins


Squeeze rock. There used to be no bypass around this spot. Now I believe there is one, and not an easy one.

why not stop and camp for the night half way? Was a fun trip.

Went camping last weekend. Had fun, light wheeling.

I should have been more specific: Anyone can of course stop and camp as they see fit. But for me, it would likely need to be day trip only. MAYBE I can swing an over nighter once some dust settles around the house, but it's just too chaotic to bail for a night and almost 2 full days once it's all said and done.

Daughter is too young for my wife to be ok with camping just yet but let's just say it's on the horizon... She's already taken a liking to my truck as it appears so it's looking promising in the near future.

Used to have my boy out on week longers when he was 11mo old, hell, had him fishing also.

Hey I'm totally with you and agree 100%. But I also have to respect my wife's comfort level and she just ain't on board quite yet. Ultimate goal is making it a family affair. So far it's headed in that direction but it's all in its own time.

That all being said, I'd still very much like to start an idea list of dates and locations for a trail run on the next couple months. Start mulling it over folks.

I'm in the exact same spot, except that I have two little ones. All my excursions need to be a one day affair and wife is not keen on any overnights with kids in diapers or potty training. Someday though we'll all be roughin' it all over the Sierras though.

I am trying to pull together a day trip wheeling, off HWY 50/South of Kyburz (Silverfork Rd. area) for Sunday Sept. 2nd.

The rough plan is to take Silverfork Rd. to No. Shanty 4WD Trail to Upper Long Canyon Rd. to West Cody 4x4 to Spur Bee 4WD Trail (out n back), then head back to HWY50 via Mule Canyon to Silverfork Rd.

Right now, I am thinking of a meet up in Folsom, CA about 9AM so we can hit the trails by 11AM and be back to HWY50 by late afternoon.
