I can't make it, but thanks for invite. You might want to make extra time to check out tree carvings in Long Canyon. I haven't been there, but have heard there are some interesting ones.

As far as Folsom meet, there is a Starbucks right by the In-and-Out by the 50.

I haven't been down these trails yet, but I have some info ... National Forest Service says both North Shanty and Spur Bee 4WD Trails are "Developed (Trail Class 3)" trails. See attached for their detailed definitions.
FWIW ... I did Long Canyon 4WD Trail (same general area with same rating) w/ some other forum members earlier this summer and it was a really fun trail. I would say a lift (2" or 3") and AT or MT tires were helpful... but I bet a stock height 4x4 w/ ATs or MTs and stock skids would have been fine. The one spot that was kinda technical had an alternate route.
I am anticipating something similar for No. Shanty & Spur Bee given the same FS rating and being geographically close by.
As for Upper Long Canyon & West Cody... those are FS roads, so they shouldn't be any issue this time of year.
Meet up and come check it out with us.

Yeap ... that's the rally point I was thinking of... there's a Chevron for gas & what not and a Starbucks for the caffeine fix and its super close to the freeway.

Figured I'd post this up here. I began the whole headliner patch phase of my 'build' and after getting some humorous, silly and Toyota ones I stumbled upon the idea of cataloging the trails I do. And since I've only done 2 named trails so far (I know, I'm working on getting that number more respectable) I can start from the beginning.
Here they are, taken from my iPhone at the top of each trail:
Place I went thru is called Mutiny Shop so google it if interested. Customizable by image, size, style etc. thought maybe some folks on here would be into that.

That was quite the view into those gorges at the top! I'm still getting the dust out of my 4Runner though, sucks to be the one in the back of the line lol!

Well, my rugged good looks and charming personality come standard with every adventure ... :lmao:
If you'll be up in the area for the weekend, you could just meet us at the trail head and run the trails for the day, then head back to camping. :shrug:

Rubicon Day Trip?? - Interest?
Throwing this out to see what the interest would be like.
Monday, October 15, 2018, a day run into the Rubicon from Loon Lake. Go into little Sluice or Buck Island and come back out.
My main things are;
1) Week day to minimize traffic & congestion (especially since we'd all be IFS rigs).
2) Having a capable rig / parts / tools for what may be thrown at us on the trail.
3) Keeping the list to 5-6 vehicles max.
Some may think I am coming off like an ass (but I am used to that), the reasoning for the criteria is to make sure everyone had a good time, keep up a good pace and not spending time dealing with issues because someone thought their WRX was a good choice.
Any thoughts?
