Northeast Expedition's 2016 TRDPro build

Today I went to Home Depot to pick up a fire extinguisher for the 4Runner, will be installing that tomorrow. Afterwards I swung by Five Star Tinting in Croydon, PA. Got the windows tinted 15% on the front two doors and then 35% over all the rest of the factory tinted windows. Turned out looking great!

 
Is that back up light output after the new led bulb or before.

Philips LED 921 reverse light bulbs. Light output on the ground blows and only will get worse once I lift the 4Runner. Don't waste your money on these bulbs.









In the photo below, you can see how shitty the light output on the ground is. The tail lights project a better light than the reverse lights.

Well the inevitable finally had to happen. No way around it and I didn't want to mount the license plate mount to the bumper. Ended up putting 4 zip ties through the front plate and around the grille. The plate fits the lower grille opening perfectly. I kinda like it being there than in the center. Makes me feel different than others.

 
Man, one of the benefits of living in PA I guess...1 plate state. I swear if I had to relocate for my job and they told me I had to move to a state with 2 plates, I'd quit. LOL.

There's gotta be a better way!!

Hahaha I wish I didn't have to run a front plate. It sucks. I'm just gonna leave it zip tied until I get an aftermarket bumper.

I got my FJToyman rear shock skids in the mail today! These things are BEEFY! They fit 10-14 FJ Cruisers and 10-16 4Runners. Last night I got a couple goodies in the mail. I got a set of Skyjacker extended rear sway bar links and some 1/4" fuel line. After lifting the FJ Cruiser or 4Runner, the rear sway bar geometry is out of wack. These links lower the sway bar back down to the stock location and relieves stress from the sway bar. This allows for more flex while still having the sway bar attached. Picked them up from Free Shipping on Orders Over $99 at Summit Racing for $65 and the part number is SBE702.

With the 1/4" fuel line, I'm going to use it to extend the rear diff breather up higher. I plan to extend the front diff breather, ADD actuator breather, transmission breather, and transfer case breather up higher than they already are. Going to use polyethylene mufflers as breathers. If you never heard of them, they are breathable plastic mufflers that allow air in and are waterproof. Its the same breather that ARB uses in their diff breather kits.

Tonight Falkor turned over 5000 miles. I called and set up the first service for next week. I plan on going ahead and changing the motor oil, oil filter, front diff fluids, and rear diff fluids. I know that the diffs are good for a while longer and the motor oil is good for 10,000 miles but I want to be on the safe side and get all that break in oil and fluids out of there.

also note the ARB diff breathers use a sintered bronze filter; same filter and assembly used on ARB's on-board air compressors.

I appreciate the info, but i already know that the breathers are already kinda high for the front diff, ADD, trans and transfer case. They are in the same location as my previous FJ Cruiser and Tacoma. Where I live, the places where we wheel, you can find yourself in a hole above the door handles and to the windshield very quickly. I rather be safe than sorry. It's not that big of a deal to relocate the breathers up higher. My plan was to move them to the same location as I did the FJ Cruiser; inside the cab.

As for the polyethylene mufflers, here's the link to the kit I was referring to. I remember ARB using the same polyethylene mufflers along time ago and you could only order it from Australia, but now they have a black circular flat style breather. Differential Breather Kit - Raw Mind Engineering
 
you do realize if you're up to the door handles in water in the 4Runner your ECM, fuseblock and engine air intake are under water and those things will stop you (Since they are not waterproof/tight) alot faster than some dumb breathers... Not hating, just saying, unless you plan to relocate all your water sensitive electrical to under the roof panel and put on a snorkel, going thru the trouble to raise or relocate the breathers is pretty much pointless. Just my $.02. Like your ride though, good stuff.

I appreciate the 2 cents but this isn't my first time building a rig and I'm fully aware of the other things which are more important to not get wet than filling my drivetrain full of water. I'm not saying that I plan on turning my 4Runner into a submarine, but I rather have my breathers moved up a bit higher than they are now. A snorkel is on the build list as well as a few other things. Thanks.

Brian @ RME makes some good stuff. I used his manifold when I had my FJ and went back to him when I decided to do the scuba mod on my T4R as noted here... "Scuba Mod" or Rear Diff Breather Mod - Complete!
I've done the inside the cab relocation for the rear and have never had any adverse issues. No off-gassing whatsoever after 2 years.

Nice rig, BTW.

I know a ton of guys who use the RME kit on their rigs. It's a great kit from what I've seen in person. I plan to pretty much mount my rear breather in the same spot, as the RME Kit, in the rear. The blue breather on his kit is a polyethylene muffler. I bought a bunch of them in bulk a year or so ago. All I gotta do is run the hose and add hose clamps. Bought a Toyota Camry fuel line Union for the rear diff as well. As soon as the winter storm goes away or I'm able to use my buddy's shop; I'll get the goods on the 4R and post up photos.

Over the past weekend, I went out to try the 4Runner in the deep snow. It did great! I was extremely impressed! On Monday I received my BOLT Lock order. The BOLT Lock uses your ignition key to set the lock. After that, the lock can not be rekeyed and you use your ignition key to unlock the lock. I had ordered a 5/8 hitch pin, trailer coupling lock, and 4 padlocks. Had these on my FJ Cruiser, but since they were keyed for the FJ, I had to let them go with the FJ when I traded it in. BOLT Lock has a great customer loyalty program that makes up for having to let the locks go.

This past weekend I was able to install the FJToyman rear shock skids and took another 5th Gen owner out for 100+ miles of trails/roads through the Pine Barrens.

Yesterday I did some waterproof testing on a MTM Ammo Crate. I plan on mounting two of these on the Bajarack when it comes in. The box passed my expectations of being water resistant. Got the box off amazon for $20. It's almost the same size as the Frontrunner Wolf Pack box but half the price. Definitely worth buying if you need some storage boxes.

Today I received a call from Demello Offroad. They notified me that the rock sliders I ordered had shipped today. Can't wait to get them and get them on!
