Yea it is really easy, although it does depend on the sub you get to be honest. The factory sub has some weird connectors on it and it is "dual voice coil" which basically means it has four plugs and not just two. The sub I got was also DVC and that made plugging it in super easy.

Did some exploring and camping in Vermont over the weekend. Nothing technical, but some great rutted out forest roads and fire roads to give the suspension a bit of a stretch and rattle the teeth haha. Really pretty area and some beautiful weather for some solo camping.
Happy to say that the rig performed great. This is the first of a few shakedown runs I am doing in preparation for my longer overland trip through Canada, Newfoundland, and Nova Scotia. Super excited for it, but there is a lot of prep and testing to be done to be self-sufficient on the road for 2 weeks!

Got around to editing some footage from my long weekend of camping in Green Mountain National Forest last weekend. Really pretty place up there and a blast to explore some of the dirt roads around.

Went wheeling with some T4R and ExPo peeps this past weekend and (obviously) made a video about it. Some really cool backroads and places to explore. Plus the Pine Barrens offer some great wheeling!

Been a bit since I've updated this, but things have been pretty busy. Been enjoying the summer as much as possible with the 4Runner and bikes, and the weather has been pretty good, so I can't complain.
But, exciting things are about to happen About 7 months in the making, my 2 week solo road trip through Canada, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick will finally be coming to fruition on Saturday. I'll be driving and camping the entire way, exploring the Trans-Labrador Highway and much of eastern Canada. Definitely a bit nervous heading out solo, but it should be one hell of an adventure. And as you can see, the packing phase is in full swing right now. More pics to follow as I get the beast ready for this journey.

Well, I finally got around to editing some footage from Canada, so I threw some of my favorite shots together in to a video. I'll hopefully get some photos up on here as well, but for some reason T4R gets crazy slow and crashes a lot when I try to upload photos. Might have to just upload them elsewhere and link them here.

Sure thing. I wanted some extra tie-down points in the trunk to keep things secure when loaded up for camping, and this was the solution I came up with. I found those circular hook things at autozone. It's basically just a metal loop with a bolt in it that you then screw in to a sort-of "butterfly" fastener.
In the rear of the 4Runner, there should be those little "tie-down securer" things that look like an octagon or some weird shape like that. What I did was pop those out and install these. The metal ring goes on the outside, and then you hold the butterfly faster on the inside of the panel and tighten. The butterfly fastener thing then opens up and holds the ring by putting pressure on the back panel. And done, you have new tie down points. The carabiners are just hanging there so they are easy to reach.

Well, sad days ahead....
The 4Runner is in bad shape. Living almost 16 years in the northeast has not been kind to the frame. The corrosion is terrible, I have holes in my frame, and it's just slowly becoming a hazard to drive. I am likely going to look to retire this trusty 4th gen and replace it with a new DD/rig.
Not sure what I will be looking for yet, but I might actually take a peek at the tacos or maybe even a wrangler for the right price. Just gotta wait and see I guess.

Ha, rust is my mortal enemy. I'll probably buy one from down south again and drive it back. Really want better towing capacity.
