November 2015 Meet and Trail Run

In for the full run, sounds like I should be good. I'll have my skids Tuesday, hopefully sliders before this happens. Can't wait to see what this runner is actually capable of. Hopefully this doesn't give me a "reason" to upgrade to 285s, I only have 5k miles on these 255s :heh:

We'll be in for the full run as well... no skids other than TE factory ones but have sliders

I'm not a stock TE but scared of " break downs and getting stuck" comment that said [MENTION=65101]BrianSD_42[/MENTION]

Kinda a newbie to this off roading thing. My experience is more in the road / track racing more...

I mean I come from Philippines... Mud and rain is rampant in the Island but not huge rocks and having to climb over them

Been lurking awhile and would love to meet some of you guys.

Is this out of the question for a bone stock 02 4WD?

Bumping my own question - reading about rock crawling sounds like the answer is this isn't the greatest trail for a stock 4R.

my only experience is mild fire trail type stuff around big sur and joshua tree - plenty of road coarse experience as well. But those skills don't seem to have any application offroad haha:car:

Hard to say, it's not my video, just one I found that's potentially our route. You'll have to wait for someone more familiar with the road to chime in.

My 2-cents on White Mtn and other Blue trails in general.

Lockers - not needed

4WD - yes, required

Metal Sliders - not required unless you are super stock low and maybe in a 4th or 5th gen.

Stock with Step bars or running boards - not a good idea, remove them

Stock with no running boards - should be fine, at least on a 3rd gen

Yep. I went DOWN dishpan using the side path a few feet from that rock. Going up (even the side path) would have been a big problem without lockers and big tires. My buddies 88 Toyota with open diff, no sliders, made it down without too much worry.

^For sure. I went Down it about 15 years ago. Back then, a return trip was out of the question! Now...

I have done this trail once before. I have cut off mud flaps on my stock rear bumper with a 3 inch suspension lift and a one inch body lift. In this youtube video where they are coming down the hill about min 5:35 is where I dented my rear bumper and crunched my mud flab when I rolled over a huge loose rock on the steep downhill. It is a great run but it doesn't hurt to have some armor. I did hit my skids a few times as well just saying.

Good thing I'll have my skids by then, not sure about my sliders yet though. I was told I'd have them by this run, but I honestly doubt it's going to happen. Also looks like Big Bear got a couple inches of snow last night with the possibility of more today. Too bad it's likely to be melted before we get out there.

We got a couple few inches last night which made for an awesome first snow drive of the season - much earlier than I was expecting. I still doubt we will get any heavy snow before our drive, but I'll post updates if there are any significant changes. I think it's going to be a perfect time for our run before winter hopefully sets in.

Can't wait to go wheeling with you again. I won't make this trip but the next big snow I'll definitely drive up for the day.
