November 2015 Meet and Trail Run

Hey guys, sorry I've been super busy prepping the the house for a new roommate. I hate to say we are splitting this into two groups, we are doing the vast majority of the ride together, as mentioned we will come to a point (3N11) where a few trucks can take a bypass on the last section of White Mtn and take a scenic detour and meet back up with the rest of the trucks just mile or two away for a different (easy, but really cool route) back to GV.

Don't worry about not being able to get past a certain section, we will leave no man behind and with all the winching and recovery gear between us it won't be any problem and most likely not even needed.

NOTE: I will have a hard-copy map for everyone at the meeting spot with our route and detour highlighted.

NOTE 2: if anyone makes it up on time Friday and wants to do the GVL scenic loop (30 min) let me know and we'll meet up for a sunset cruise.

Depends on when I get up there Friday and how the kid is feeling (he gets sick on twisty mountain roads sometimes), but I'd be in for the scenic cruise.

hi,

just letting you guys know that I was up there this weekend. I map the trail in accordance to the map. I got up to Crap flats. The 3N16 was closed after this part. I ended up at 3N34 but it was most difficult. I couldn't figure out why I couldn't find 3N16 after Crab Flats until wifey saw the closed off trail. Just giving you guys a heads up since you guys were planning to do this route. We ended up going back to Bear Paw Flats I think and took Fawn Skin all the way out.

@sentinel,@GVL can you verify? I'm wondering if it's because of the water crossing.

Uh oh... hopefully trail leader @GVL will have a plan for us. I already have my Cabin on lock and no cancelation.
 
^ Same. I'm sure we'll figure something out if this is the case. Skyline and Clark's summit maybe? Skyline is more than easy enough for stock vehicles and I heard Clark's summit (does a U off of Skyline) is semi moderate but not really difficult.
 
hey, so i am possibly getting a 05 4x4 Wednesday, given the wife gets the loan, I have a loan for my land rover, but we might be down for this. is it dog friendly. we take them everywhere basically. Great Pyrenees, blue pit, and a little dog. ill still have running boards and all that. literally stock.

Does this look like a Tacoma forum? :crazy:

I was actually just trying to talk my buddy that has like a 90 (or something) Toyota pickup into coming, but I guess he's having transmission issues or something. I should bring my Tacoma once, just to see how far I can get with 2wd and a locker. Maybe the next time I don't have the kid.

I like wheeling with different groups. Looking forward to wheeling with this group.

it wasn't that muddy. there were a few water crossings. we didn't get out of the rigs to check but it was fence off. didn't even think about taking pics of the closure. I thought just of you guys so that's why I am posting my findings so you guys can have a plan B ...

sorry guys for the false alarm. I compare my gps against the route you guys plan. we got as far to Coxey Rd and we took that to Fawn skin. You guys should be fine. Not sure about 3N17 since I didn't go that route.
 
What's up guys, don't worry about your reservations there's plenty of alternative routes if for some reason any trails are closed. I'll go check it out, but I'm going to wait until Wed to run down there so whatever was closing it has had a bit on longer clear up. We can always take 2N13 (the way we planned to come back to GVL) to get out to the Big Pine Flats area if needed. I'll also give the rangers at the Discovery Center a call to see what's up as well.

The only weather in the foreseeable future is supposed to be a dusting of snow tonight then a few degrees warmer as we approach the weekend. Right now it's bitter cold outside with some nasty winds that can chill ya to the bone - I love it! By Saturday the weather looks to be beautiful and perfect for a fall time drive.

NOTE: I still have both guest rooms at my place open if anyone wants to get an early start and come up on Friday.

Look for a trail update on Wed night or Thurs morning. Until then......
