November 2015 Meet and Trail Run

I spoke with the Forest Service today at the Fawnskin Discovery Center and was told as of today there were no trail closures on our planned route. The weather has been dry the last few days so I highly doubt any flood or slide issues along the main route there. Should be a perfect day for a drive, but still a bit chilly in the mornings and by 3pm so bring a jacket along for sure.

So do we have a final vehicle count including non T4R's? Oh well, doesn't really matter just get there on time and be ready for fun drive. I'm estimating 3-4 hrs tops and probably a little less if we don't run into any issues.

Am I missing something? Why the hell do you guys want expensive ass coatings on your sliders? If you actually use them, you're gonna scrape it all off anyways. You're gonna want something that is easy to touch up

I'm not rock crawling and I'm not out every weekend so I wouldn't mind having something more durable so the truck doesn't look like total shit daily. That being said, I've got 2 cans of extra spray paint for touchups.

See you guys Saturday, maybe tomorrow night. My departure has been delayed until after 330 because my son has to have a TB test read (got the test done yesterday) for school and it has to be done before we hop on the road. No idea what time I'm going to get in, I expect traffic to be terrible.

I'll be headed up saturday morning and having breakfast at Deep Creek Drive-In in Arrowbear around 8 oclock. Someone mentioned it was opening weekend at snow summit so im giving myself some extra time to make it up the hill, but it shouldnt be too bad considering it didnt just dump a few feet of snow

Purely personal preference but rattle can paint last 2-3 years and PC lasts twice that or longer.

I've had both on my sliders and PC is far more durable. Sure they get scratched up but not that bad.

Plus your sliders are welded on and it isn't easy to repaint them.

Wasn't sure what the plan is for lunch. Whether we're eating on the trail or eating after. I want to say someone mentioned a cafe, but if it's going to be a 3-4 hour run, then we're cutting into lunch time if we start at 9-915. I'll likely have sandwich stuff for me (anyone else too) and I've got a couple lunchables for my son to choose from and plenty of snacks.

Exactly Connor! "If you actually use them" being the key here. If you beat the living dogsh!t out of 'em like I do mine(mad props to AllPro,they make one tough slider!), then u want it easy to touch up. Rustoleum satin black is all I use. It looks fantastic...until the next time I scrape it down to bare metal! :becky:

I know White Mtn is pretty exposed and likely to be windy along that portion of the run. I think the spot right after the black diamond detour is a much better spot to regroup and maybe give our rigs a once-over while you grill up a quick snack and everyone can break out their goodies.. It's only an hour or so from there back to GVL where we should arrive noonish so whoever wants to have lunch at the Malt Shoppe can stick around.

Note: There is a General Store across from the meeting spot that should be open by 9am if anyone needs any last minute items before we hit the trail.

unfortunately I'm out.

I had the drivers side slider on car jacks and when I went to slide it over to align it with the frame I pulled a muscle in my lower back. Even if I managed to get the KDSS stuff bolted back up those rocky roads wouldn't be very fun right now.

It looks like it's going to be a great run. Have fun and take lots of pics.

Like Brian said it's a personal preference but what you may have missed on my post was the Rhino Liner is warrantied for life. They respayed them for free after they got scratched real bad about 6 years ago and they still look great today.
