I had a great time and learned a few things along the way! Glad we decided to do that. BFaulken, sorry about your truck man I hope everything gets fixed up quickly.

Most of the pictures are of TCMach and crashman since they were closest to me, next time I'll be sure to take more of everyone on the fun parts! Pics are full size because I'm too lazy to downsize them all.

update: Looks like BOTH diffs are blown. They said the Tranny and T-Case are good. Apparently the front seems to be completely destroyed, and the rear is somewhat less destroyed, from what they could tell without opening it up (it was a free diagnostic). Quoted me $2500+ to get her running again.

I pretty much said the same thing in my Help thread, but I'm gonna scan CL and salvage yards to see what I can find. If I make this a project instead of paying half my car's value to get it fixed, a complete rear axle would do the trick in the back, right?
And for the front, how hard would the diff be to replace, if I can find another one? I'll have 2 weeks of free time in January to work on it, and can do without a car till then.
And I'm assuming I need to find the same gear ratio I had (4.10) right? Or just match the replacements to each other? Not totally sure how the whole re-gearing process goes.

Ok you need to look up Aussie locker you can get auto lockers for front and rear for less than 1000 and you will have something better than stock
Also I will pm you with my mechanics number he will most likely be cheaper and do a great job

He may have some stock diffs from an upgrade of someone else's truck and he's in your neck of the woods + a helluva guy!

But I may not need much work from a mechanic...I found a stock 4.10 complete front diff, and the gears for the rear, for $350 on CL. So hopefully the only shop work would be installing the gears in back, drastically reducing my total cost. But that's assuming I get these and they check out ok.
And if not, Addicted may have something laying around, like CSX said.

I think the aussie lockers are $350 per axle
I'm not trying to get you to spend more just trying to give options so spent money will give you something modded and when its fixed you will have a more off-road capable truck :shrug:

sounds like i missed a good trip :sobbing:

aussie lockers are 270 for the front and 290 for the rear.
this is the direction i'll go once the 4runner is no longer a daily driver.
