Now that Safari LTD is out of business, where to get a replacement steering rack?

Just called up Safari LTD - Your Local Toyota Parts & Service Center at 970.245.5898 and their voicemail said that their shop is closing permanently.

Now that the safari steering racks are no longer available, I am wondering what you guys would recommend picking up?

Of course they close a week after my rack starts leaking. Zzzzz

I remember reading a month or so ago about the brand of rack Safari used to build theirs... I think [MENTION=60147]the great him[/MENTION] was one of the folks talking on the subject. Maybe he knows.

I honestly never believed their product was anything special. There's no real way to tell if it was superior to an OEM unless it was tested against a new OEM for 20 years.

I'm pretty sure the rack Safari used was an A1 Cardone that they had adjusted to their specs. Ahh well. I tried to buy one from them months ago. Ended up with a NAPA. Driver side ITRE is already a little loose and I haven't done much more than dirt FS roads.

Should have gone with my original plan of getting an A1 from Amazon that didn't have the ITREs and bought Toyota ones to put on it.

From lots of research I believe these racks where no different than any other. Oem is the way to go.
