The long awaited Bilstein 6112 coilovers for the 3rd gen 1996 - 2002 Toyota 4Runner is almost here. Bilstein 47-258624 is the newest release of the 6112 featuring a staggered circlip with 9 adjustable height settings to dial in the perfect height on a massive 60mm shock body. Designed for the serious off-road adventure seeker, the all new Bilstein B8 6112 kit is the ultimate suspension solution. The Bilstein B8 6112 kit optimizes off-road and on-road capabilities with a 60mm digressive piston for increased damping control. This kit features specially designed cold wound springs and an adjustable spring seat which allows for vehicle leveling, larger tires, and increased ground clearance. The kit comes with (2) 60mm shock absorbers (2) springs and (2) billet spring seats. Bilstein B8 6112 kits are a direct bolt on for late model half-ton trucks and SUVs which utilize a front factory coilover suspension design. The Bilstein B8 6112 kit is for front applications and reuses the OEM top mount and spring isolators. To maximize performance, Bilstein recommends a B8 5160 remote reservoir shock absorber for the rear application which will be released soon.

These look awesome and I think I will be ordering a set!
I am wondering why they chose not go up to 3+" of lift, like all other coilovers? For people switching from other lifts who already have 3" this complicates the purchase.

Here is a picture with the 6112 kit set at 2.3" up front on my '01 4Runner with OME 890 rear springs. This package is great on the 4Runner and it rides great both on and off-road.

Man I wish they made it to handle 3" lift. Guessing it put the springs and shocks out of spec and ride like crap. They will lose a lot of purchases because of this. Very good price for what it is.

Are those 285/75/16's? Do you get any rubbing?

265/75/16; no rubbing at all. I have 5160's that Bilstein is developing for the 3rd gen 4Runner, but they haven't been released yet. You can use the 5100's for the 3rd gen with the 6112 kit up front. Part # 24-249966

MSRP is the same on this kit as the other 4Runners at 789, our pricing will be much less. They are working on the 5160 rear reservoir shocks, but at this time all they offer is the 5100 or 4600 Bilsteins.

So what about us guys that want 3" of lift? Is there a tundra version of these that we can use to get the lift we want? A lot of us are running the tundra 5100's and would like to upgrade but not willing to lower the front suspension.

I havent checked the spring length, but most likely yes.

There is a 2000-06 Tundra 6112 System being released at the same time - the part number is 47-243729

I have 285's and about 2.5-3 inch of front lift and I rub on the rear of the wheel well pretty bad, in the link above it says it will clear 285's but I have doubts that 2.3 inches of lift will be enough to clear 285's?

It all depends on the wheels and tires you are using. Weve seen 285s on stock suspension 3rd gens, although they are STUFFED.

i ran 285s for almost two years on a stock set up... factory tundra wheels, factory height, ect. never had wheel spacers or any need for them. sure you will rub a little, but its going to be very minor, and only at full flex and full lock... both of which are only going to be happening at very slows speeds so it should be of no concern -its not gonna damage a tire. as far as power loss eh... ok sure your gonna lose a little power, but will you be able to tell? i dont think so, i mean maybe at first but drive the truck around for a couple of weeks, and you wont be able to tell anymore. mileage loss ok again sure but its not a huge loss. with my 285s and all moy armor and my winch ect im still able to pull 17-18 on the hwy and 14-15 in town. i say go for it...

Thanks for sharing, looks great with that set up. I am curious why you chose to go with OME 890's over 906's or 891's in the rear.
I'm currently building an order with Chas at MRT for my runner and I'm very excited about the 6112's in the front but still a little unsure about 890's or 906's in the rear with new 5100's. Mine's a 2000 with stock size tires with no bumpers, winches or added weight. Its my daily driver and I don't really 4wheel much, but when I do, its heavily loaded with gear on baja trails and washboard ie no rock crawling. This will be my first upgrade/lift from the original (toasted 180K mile) suspension. I'd appreciate any input you have as I'm looking for the best rear match to these brand new 6112's that are coming out. Thanks a bunch!
