O2 sensors

This is a real dumb question probably but what are O2 sensors for and how do they affect the vehicle?

Short & sweet there are 4, 2 fwd & 2 rear, front are air/fuel , rear are o2 , they read read gas mix & emissions & other stuff for the catalytic converters .
