Obama: US has always paid it's bills

Well, it does flood there quite a bit - are you lifted?:fish2::fish2: I lived in Kenner for about a year while I was trying to sell a hotel there.....worst 12 months of my life.

Actually, since they are constantly replacing drainage pipes and things, it floods less and less here.

I am not lifted, but - with the exception of my friend's '03 4.7 Sport (which is full time 4wd...lucky b*stard) - my runner is probably the highest vehicle in the neighborhood. I've made it through some pretty good standing water before. I just can't see the point of lifting a 2wd that has 160k miles on it. And how often am I actually going to USE that lift? It would look great but realistically, it would kill my gas mileage and probably end up being a waste of money.

Bible thumper, like I said. Pray for the answers man! Oh wait, Jesus was all about charity….. maybe you are one of those guys that loves the bible when it makes him look good, but doesn’t actually live by its "teachings". You strike me as such.

And what’s hypocritical about what I have said? Because I manage to keep a job, pay my bills, support my family AND am able to give a little to those in need? Shame on me and on others that don’t mind offering a helping hand to people once and a while. Oh and by the way, despite what you believe, you don’t get to tell me what I consider a helping hand. You also don’t get to tell the rest of the country what to do or how to vote. That ship has sailed man. You lost. Suck it up.

You really are thick. Not a thing getting through. If calling you a rank and file Liberal is a name then so be it, own to, thats what you are. You are intentionally misrepresenting yourself, but cowards like you have to. I would greatly welcome the day we could discuss this in person, it will never come. It will never come because you and your type will always hide, always redirect.

You have no answers, you have nothing of value to add, you have nothing else to say other than petty comments to help yourself feel you have triumphed.

Lame lame lame, got that impression on your first post, but still thought I would let it play out a bit to see where you would end up. Well, we know where that ended up.

Fixed that for you.

I’ll let it go. I’m done with replying to you man. You say the same things over and over even and resort to name calling and bullying :hurt: and such when you get angry. It brought me down to your level for a minute, I apologize for that. Have a good day man.

Im actually glad you did that. Another set of face cards of your showing. Lie, manipulate, fabricate. You and your kind know nothing else.

Bullying :sobbing:.......YOU ARE A JOKE.

You bring no value to the conversation, you lie/manipulate/fabricate anything to advance your agenda, and you have a real affinity for writing a whole lot and saying NOTHING at the same time.

Like I said (yes, i have to say it repeatedly because you are clearly having a hard time reading/comprehending/understanding english) rank and file liberal/socialist/communist.

Heres a hint, move out of mom and dads basement, think for yourself, grow up, get a clue (in any order you prefer). :peace:

If you're Conservative you can go live in a Conservative state. If you're Liberal, you can go live in a Liberal state. Unfortunately, this system wouldn't work because the Liberal states would run out of $$$ from their welfare policies and would come after the Conservative ones to pay for their welfare system

It's actually getting to be funny. That bubble you live in is certainly impenetrable to facts.

Sounds like Randydaytona works for some part of the government...? This is a tough debate and though most would agree debating in a calm way without profanity or anger should be more productive, I also totally empathize with BigNuge. Like him, many citizens are simply angry; there are many reasons but if you have to simplify and say pick one; it might be the federal govt trying to centralize even more power in DC, in spite of their consistently demonstrated inability to run anything efficiently.
I had to pipe up now because respectfully Randy, if you're going to try to claim "the VA is a great organization", you're simply going to lose that argument across the board. there's just far too many stats and stories against you. Even Bob Dole tried and failed to fix the VA. However I do agree with you part of it is funding, and its hard to allocate enough funds to care for disabled soldiers who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our country, when you're paying for nearly 50 million people to use food stamps to buy liquor or designer sunglasses, plus you're giving them Obama-phones... all of which is costing a lot of money.
As for the logic that "the majority of citizens must've wanted it...", there again is another reason people are angry, because its simply not true. More and more, the govt seems to do things like Obamacare when the majority of people clearly do not want it. BO did manage to energize enough young people to vote in 2012 but keep in mind these are people that get free phones and don't even know that Obamacare and the AHCA are one in the same; see Kimmel
Like President Reagan once said: "Government isn't the solution to the problem, Government IS the problem."

How is the government trying to "centralize power?" Please explain that one, because other than most agencies being headquartered there (because...um...it's the capital city of our country), most operations are run from the field. HQ is where the planning, budgeting, and implementing of the laws that our elected officials pass takes place, with heavy input from the field (because you can't do that without knowing what's going on elsewhere). But the rest of the U.S. is where virtually all actions affecting U.S. citizens take place. You can't get much more de-centralized than that.

I never said the VA was a "great organization." Read my post again, then try not to put words in my mouth. I said that given the scope of its mission and the challenges it has to deal with in pursuing that mission, the people who work there do a pretty good job. If there's flawed policy, that's because a majority of our citizenry voted either for or against it, via casting ballots for the elected representatives who approved it. You'd be surprised how many laws are passed which filter down to a government agency as "you now need to do it this way..." I don't see the logic in vilifying the folks who are following what gets filtered down to them. Also, the VA budget is not used to fund the food stamp program, the last time I checked. So if you have a problem with food stamps, that ire should be directed at the Department of Agriculture - different pot of money allocated to a different agency. Or better yet - at the people misusing the food stamps, maybe. But whatever Ag is doing with their money, it's normally approved by the elected officials when they approve the budget. If they do something that's not approved, they usually hear about later.

Also, I'd love to hear how the actions which take place in our country are NOT the will of the majority. How is that "simply not true?" Are you trying to say Obama won the election simply because he gave out free phones and people voted for him solely for that reason? That's certainly what it looks like to me.

Or because he "energized" the young people? People vote for a candidate for whatever reason, and if that person turns out not to do the things they expected, too bad, so sad. That's politics.

It's ironic that you chose to end your post with a quote from a Ronald Reagan, a President who promised to decrease the size of the federal government, but didn't. He actually increased it, and more importantly nearly tripled the national debt. And lets not forget - his administration decided that passing the Immigration and Nationality Act was a good idea (the 'real' amnesty; it's easy get rid of illegal immigrants when you make 'em all legal with the stroke of a pen).

In short, he was another empty suit telling the voters whatever they wanted to hear in order to get himself a seat (or in this case, the highest seat) at the governing table. Any conservative or democrat who thinks their guy or gal is different is delusional. Maybe someday a new kind of leader will come along, but it hasn't happened yet.

As Randy might say if you were of the opposing view of his: Do you have any suggestions or are you just gonna gripe about it and arm-chair quarterback the situation?

I guess some people have a problem with actually trying to fix something if they think it's broken.

You're right: bit$%ing and moaning is much easier.

The other poster was right: you DO seem to prefer to simply snipe at people you don't like as they post things not ever remotely directed at you.

You know...Rather than sticking your unsolicited 2 cents into someone else's argument... or throwing smarta$$ barbs at someone who has no beef with you in the current topic... a better approach would be to argue successfully with that person in whatever topic they p$$ed you off in to begin with. Don't be a moron there and you won't look like as much of one here.

If, after reading all of this thread, you think that my assessment of the governments performance is based solely on how the VA operates then we have nothing more to discuss. Reducing my dealings & understanding of the VA down to "worked on a boiler once" is both insulting and inaccurate. Here is the difference, I can take it (unlike when I use "liberal" in an unpleasant manner, sending every one of them whining to no end about not being sensitive).

Coincidentally, I too think you are an intelligent person. However, your opinions & objections are clearly related to your employment. It can be difficult to be unbiased & objective in your position, I get that.

I'll be the first to admit that my frustration can get the best of me. I use the descriptors like Liberal/Socialist/Communist to identify & accentuate our polarizing differences in opinion, often in a closing remark/fashion for exclamation. Please do use "Conservative" to describe me, I'll be the first to agree!

We (the conservative base that this country is built on) have been quiet for far too long, kowtowing to the progressive/overly sensitive BS. Candy-coating everything as not to upset somebody. I'm calling it, and I'm done with it.

While I would welcome a good bit of banter/discussion in person regarding politics & the government, I am done with this thread. It's all out there in the previous pages & posts. I have, in plain logic, explained how I have arrived at my understanding of things.

Not one person has offered compelling evidence that what I have said is not true, and I know why....

From the LAST General to GET IT DONE!!! And I know why that is too......

A disturbing FACT......

Um...I didn't "whine" about anything. I simply pointed out that coming at people by insulting them first, and then trying to make a point, afterwards isn't all that effective. And it tends to pi%% people off. "Can you not see that distinction?"

I used the VA as an example, because you brought it up as your supposed proof of how messed up the government was. So if you have additional examples, I can address each one - likely by explaining it the same way, because all agencies deal with the same budget challenges that the VA deals with. Again, you still don't know what you're talking about.

You like to paint conservatives - and yourself - as a real "tough guys." You're anything BUT the people at whom you spew vitriol and sarcasm: the "pansies," the "bleeding hearts" and the people who "candy coat" everything. There's a great deal of insecurity in your posts, because caring about someone does not equate to weakness.

This is also the second time you've said something about conservatives or conservative values "building" this country. "Conservatives"" didn't build this country, alone. In fact, a lot of the construction work had to do with overcoming traditional conservative values. Tiny, insignificant values such as white males are superior to everyone else, woman should stay at home and be pregnant, and christianity should rule our lives and be the only religion we practice. There are a host of other issues that we're still dealing with today, and simply because they fly in the face of what we used to do, the conservative half of the population assumes they must automatically be bad.

This doesn't mean every new idea is good, either. It just means that one should listen to others and weigh an idea on its own merits - not on the political party of the guy who had the idea to begin with, whether you think he's a "bleeding heart liberal," or some other ridiculous reason.

Anyway, I'm out. Apologies to all for seeming to prolong the agony of this thread, but I wanted to respond - was working late the last couple of days and not able to get on the board

God bless BigNuge for a stellar effort in trying to talk sense to a liberal!
By the way, I don't have to speculate about what Obamacare will do.... for many of us it is already happening. I work for a large company that historically had good health insurance and options, but starting this year in direct response to O-care:

1. Our typical 3-4 choices dropped to one, so I lost the one I preferred
2. My employee contributions went up 35%, plus deductibles I pay are higher
3. I received a letter from my long-time doctor informing me that in light of the ACA he can no longer keep his clinic running, so he dropped out of internal medicine.

So, all three things O said would not happen are already happening. Plus we just got a notice for signing up 2014 and we've been informed costs will be rising again.
Finally, I heard a news piece last week on CBS (normally big consumers of O-kool-aid) of all places and the anchor was asking the question: "So what is the motivation of the young healthy people to sign up and pay much more, knowing they will get less care and they're being leaned on to pay for others...?"
You would have to be truly delusional to believe O-care will save money. Yes I agree with some people that O-care might collapse under its own incompetence... but the scary thing is that once the govt establishes a new gluttonous money-sucking vehicle, they rarely if ever successfully terminate it.
I'm afraid we're in deep trouble.

Same here and am paying more in taxes. It's time to start over by force if need be and set some things straight. All one has to do is look at where the greatest number of Gov't dependants live & overlay it with the number of liberals and one can clearly see it also matches up with the areas going broke.

Wow. Angry redneck is angry! lol yell some more, call some more names break some stuff! Like a child having a tantrum, figures.

Say whatever you need to man. You and your kind are a dying breed; you hide behind politics and religion because they make you feel safe. Someone will fix it! God will make it better! My Party/Klan will save us! Everyone who looks different and acts different is wrong and scary! We should't help people because we should only help ourselves! Let em starve! blah blah blah.

You going to challenge me to a fight next? Scary guy! Lol. Anyway, now that you have displayed a clear inability to debate anything of value coupled with a real anger issue, you’re on ignore so have at the insults and put downs some more.

EDIT: Also big props to your inability to understand that if someone is not a conservative (or a conservative that thinks like you) it doesn’t mean they are automatically a liberal.

I see /off-topic/ is still where reasonable discourse goes to die :typing:

this section always breaks down to far far right opinions and anyone who disagrees and is the least bit centrist is a treated like a huge commie.

nevada doesn't even think there should be a government.

Just a little perspective. :)

Is this based on fact? or just an ignorant assumption based on regurgitate fallacies? Like everyone signing up for Obamacare is lazy, doesn't want to work and is looking for a free ride?

I'm sorry but I get so frustrated hearing people regurgitate this garbage over and over again. Claiming anyone who doesn't agree is a 'liberal'. It reminds me of the people claiming the media is biased. No, the media is educated and paying attention. That's the difference!

The media knows that this healthcare plan was damn near the same plan proposed by Bob dole not too long ago, it is and was considered a conservative plan not that long ago. Now it seems that this extreme right has emerged that accuses anyone to the left of them of being a 'liberal'. This is a mostly republican plan. Centrist at best, but not liberal.

I know this is at least the fourth time I have posted this in this thread. Here's to hoping you guys will actually read some facts so I dont have to keep hearing about 'conservative' America supporting 'liberal' America. The biggest contributors to the economy are all 'liberal' states. The majority of the 'takers'? Conservative states. Sorry, but you've got it completely backwards.

NO. NO. NO. This is a false equivalency. Simply not true and the kind of dangerous thinking that has created the situation we are currently in. Do you understand leftist ideals at all?? If everyone in here was advocating for the far far left it would be, AT THE LEAST, a single payer system.

Do you understand that I simply rephrased BrianSD_42's biased comment, to reflect the opposite viewpoint? You know, the one that you "Liked".

Based on the last few pages in this thread alone, it is a valid observation.

Yes. That's why I called it a false equivalency. Again, if you feel the people disagreeing with you in this thread represent the 'far, far left' then I would reiterate my earlier question; Are you sure you understand far left ideas?
