Hi this my first thread post, realize that there are numerous posting on ODB scanners but I have spend the past 2 days reading historical posting on this subject didn't get far, found a thread from 2011 but it ended and never really got resolved. So I'm hoping this community with its collective knowledge can help this newbie before Ii got stark raving mad.
Last week I purchased a Foseal wifi OBD 2 reader & Dash Command app it didn't work just gave me goofy data, like rpm swinging from 500 to 5500 at idle & vehicle speed was 65-90 mph parked, no coolant temp or any other data also couldn't pull any emission codes or find message that states no codes stored.
So I tried the free app ODB Auto Doctor that at least gave me coolant, rpm air intake temp & it showed no emission codes stored, but the ODB wifi reader kept kicking out of the wifi network had to constantly connect, it also kicked me out of wifi when i toggled from 1 screen to another. I think i got a used reader because when i opened the box the tape that should be on the pin connectors was balled up & shoved in the pins. I ended up sending it back to amazon for a refund. I then bought a LELink blue tooth reader & purchased the EngineLink app. I received the new reader this afternoon the blue tooth worked & easily connected to my iPad air with the app open prior to connecting the adapter. Now the issue is it get no data & when I try to read any stored codes I get "Error busy try again later". it maddening, so I tried this reader on my wife's 2006 avalon and it worked like champ it immediately connected via blue tooth and it gave me speed, engine rpm, tongue, fuel level, power coolant temp, I was also able to see what PIDs were available so I was able to customize a few pages. So I know the app & blue tooth scanner works which makes me wonder if my OBD port works. The weird thing is I see the red light when the adapter is connected & once it links to blue tooth the green flashing is present. So there is power to the port, I checked the 7.5 amp fuse in the engine bay its ok so I'm left scratching my head.
