I am glad that the trails are getting some good rain on them it should make the runs a lil more eventful and maybe the water crossing will have a decent amount of water as well for that added attraction factor and pics.

Still trying to work out the kinks with my CB SWR, but I'm hoping the lil Wil mag mount I should have when I get home tonight fixes the problem at least for this weekend. I can receive, I just can't get under 2.5 in my drive way to test output. Other than that I just have to hope my kid feels better since he's been sick the last couple days. Might have to leave him with grandma if he's not.

4' Firestik on a RS720 hatch mount. I don't think it's grounding right on the hatch. Doesn't really matter what I change, the SWR stays the same or gets worse. Going to mess with this mag mount tonight. Either way I can still receive even if I can't get either one tuned right. Also could just be that I'm trying to tune in front of my house instead of an open area, so I'll bring my meter with me on Saturday in case I have a chance to hook it up and try a legit open area tune.

edit: Think it's a hatch ground issue. the lil Wil mount is giving me 1.5 on 40, and 2.5 on 1 whereas the firestik was giving me no change between high and low channels. So still high on the low end with the mag mount, but I think once I get out in the open I'll be able to trim it down and get a decent SWR out of it.

I had the exact same issue and I have the exact same set ups on mine and the mag mount works better, but I also bought another mag base and screwed my firestik into it and it work perfect as well on the roof. It's the hatch area metal and being low with interference causing it.

That's what I've been reading. I've sanded down the mount and sanded down the inside of the hatch where the screws dig in. I prefer the firestik because I can mount it/remove it as needed and leave the mount in place so I'm probably going to look at building a mount for near the bumper/tail light after this weekend.

Has it been raining more over in that area? They had mudslides up the Grapevine, the 58 and the 14, and Antelope Valley yesterday with more rain predicted.

We'll find out. I'm pretty sure you guys can run a green trail in the mud.

We've got sentinel. If we split I'll lead a group no problem.

There is no ice / snow so there should be no issues as long as you are cautious.

That's right, you've got me (?). I'm sure we'll be fine on the green (now most likely moderate) with mud. Now might be a good time to invest in a pressure washer though.

My question to the guys on the list: Is anyone running a 2WD truck? And if so, do you have acceptable (all terrain type) tires?

A CB is not required. I will have a couple of GMRS handhelds to loan out.

I am looking into current trail conditions, but so far, the ranger stations aren't very helpful.

Just did. Was on duty last night and the ship is real hit or miss on whether or not this site loads. Probably going to get up around 530 or 6, grab some grub, and head out around 6:30 or so.
