I have the same thing! Great post! Was wondering what it was. I am waiting for dry warmer weather to do a deep dive and remove this. I dont have a remote so I never considered it being a remote start.

OP - does your Runner make an electrical clicking sound after start up right as you take off? Mine does it every time I start to move after ignition. I figured it had something to do with this little button???

Ok so the clicking noise I mentioned is normal per another thread on this site. Apparently it's the ABS.

I guess I will still remove this thing on mine as I dont see any benefit keeping it.

if a 4runner limited model has this type of alarm key less entry
