Does any one know the weight of the oem skid plates? I would like to know to determine if I am going to need hd springs or a lift soon. Thinking about getting new skids or at least a full gas tank skid.

I used to have this info, but lost it. If I remember correctly, the front and mid skid weigh about 20 lbs total and the stock trail edition gas tanks skid weighs around 17-20 lbs I think.

Even with a full aftermarket skid set you shouldn't need HD springs. I'm running full Budbuilt skids, a CBI rear bumper (140lbs) , and a SSS front bumper and winch (~140Lbs), and have installed front OME medium (885) and rear Toytec +10 Superflex springs. I still have to add about 300 pounds of camp gear before I get any rear sag (1") and it just feels more planted than loaded.

If I were buying a new set of skids today I'd probably get the aluminum RCI, but even with the steel I have it hasn't made a difference with my setup. If you are staying stock, just get the aluminum rci stuff and you'll be fine. Get the full gas skid, worth EVERY SINGLE PENNY for us limited owners with the cheap half skid.
