Want to confirm that I have the correct factory part number for an 02 4wd 4runner OEM cv axel shaft: 434303503084
Doing a google/forum/toyota dealer search, I came up with a couple different part numbers and the diagrams on the toyota site were a bit unclear but it seemed that the part number listed above was correct & would fit both the driver & passenger side?
Back story if interested:
Installed my lift several months ago & noticed a slow seepage of grease from both inner boots...things I expected with a lift. Kinda forgot about that issue b/c it has been in the body shop since Feb having a few things restored on it. I got it back last week & noticed that a lot more grease had been leaking out & put it on my list of things to address. My initial plans were to take it to a dealer to have it serviced b/c my time was limited. Was quoted about $800 from the places I called. Definitely more then what I wanted to pay but my rationalization for having someone else do it was time, have never tackled that job before, & I live in the city so I would have to sneak up to the top of my parking deck to try & get everything done & didn't want to get called out in the event that axle grease got everywhere. Yesterday, I had the passenger LBJ/ITR/OTR completely disassembled when it occurred to me that I would have to pretty much go through the same process to remove/install a new cv axle shaft. Since my old LBJ/ITR/OTR were still in good shape & I wasn't planning on driving it until I got the axle issue resolved, I put the old stuff back on and decided to go ahead and order the cv axle so I can do everything at once. Decided to do the oem replacement axle vs the reboot b/c it had been leaking for a while & the few toyota service centers I contacted said they only do replacements and don't reboot so I thought I'd do the same.
