Off-road options close to Altadena?

Read the threads regarding differential breather relocation and decide for yourself. It's a crapshoot. Are you willing to risk getting water in your diff?

I have done a bit of research since posing this question, even reached out to XO guys with a similar question. My personal opinion so far based on what I learned is it is fine without rear breather for now (front is properly vented from the factory) but a good early and fairly easy mod candidate for possible future. It would not stop me from forging a moderate stream now but I also wouldn't go out of my way to do it. I may also simply hang out and wait for the diff to cool a bit before plunging.
I also assume this would be covered by my warranty unless I did something silly. This is another area I should look into. Any input welcome.

If you don't ford anything too deep you will probably be ok. It's an inexpensive and easy mod though.
As far as warranty goes it could depend on where you bought it and the integrity of the service dept. Many dealerships look for any excuse not to honor warranty. I had a heated argument with my service dept over a stripped roof rail bolt I could not remove. They ultimately replaced the roof rail for free. Despite these being off road vehicles, Toyotas definition of offroad may be far tamer than ours.
Enjoy your truck and don't worry about it . These rigs are pretty tough and forgiving.
Of course this forum has an addictive influence causing irrational spending and obsession over aftermarket add ons. I highly recommend transferring your bank accounts to your significant other ASAP. lol

Alright, I kinda found one. It is super short and sketchy. It is in Millard Canyon. The gate was open so I went down. Problem is it was raining and much more slippery then I thought.
I got down the moderate hill with truck going diagonally or completely sideways as it slid into the ruts. I was going too slow. I knew on the way up there couldn't be any loss of momentum. 4lo and powered the heck out of there. Got my first bit of mud to show for it.
Here is the gate that was left open if you wana try it. Though it may or may not be a good idea.
