lifting has been awesome haven't been here a while so bear with my updates haha
Gear wise:
totally destroyed my TK knee sleeves and cheap yellow wrist wraps, knee sleeve ripped while doing couple 80% max set and the wrist wrap velcro fell off as well. so i got these bad boys.
24 inches wide velcro compare to the old 12 inch tiny velcro, also these are not as stretchy so they feel way stronger, been using it for a few weeks now love them.

Duh duh duh!!! Eric finally got with the freaking program and got these. at 90 bucks they are twice the cost of the TK sleeves but man they feel so much more comfortable, also easy to put on, the stitching seems way stronger, altho i think the thermo in TK is better, never the less they get the job done as im training raw, so knee wraps are on hold until meet prep mode.

Also got these sexy looking mofos, the old dowins are fine, but they look like old man sneakers lol also the heel is a bit to steep so i took advantage of the thanksgiving sale and got these and been using them mostly the last couple of month, they fit a bit tight but are deff just as good as the wooden heel Dowins.

Diet talk:
dieting has been hard, mostly because im too lazy to cook or track macros, so i been just eye balling the macros and my eye balls got pretty big, sitting at 282 right now, which is what i was around this time last year, during last year around june i was 255 at my 2013 lowest. but my diet is kinda back on track again, really want to complete this year so i gotta get my weight down so my total lift number looks better.

Training talk:

Squats:My squats has been progressing steady, being lifting for years has its disadvantages, you don't progress as fast, but i been doing okay, last year i was able to maybe put out 2 reps of 405 with wraps on, and this year 405 is working weight, i can rep 4 reps of 405 with just sleeves on, haven't tested my 1RM but im guessing with wraps i can break 500 with ease. but i'm dealing with some muscular imbalances right now so progress is slow. people in the gym tell me i'm strong but it feel weak as shit doing 500 as wrapped 1rm lol powerlifters dysmorphic i guess.

Bench:
my benching was always my weakest lift, last year 1RM was 285 with form as good as a curl bro. this year after some form check 285 is working weight, current 2RM is 315 so i guess 1RM is around 325. my form is totally different now, traps and shoulder pinched, upper back arched, grip slightly wider than shoulder width, feet behind my knees for leg and hip drive, HIP DRIVE, huge help in aid of my benching, braces my whole body and really helps getting outta the whole, just make sure i don't lift my butt off the bench so i don't get flagged at a meet.

Deadlift:
some of you know my back fo FUBAR from my injury last year around sept, and i been shy away from dl ever since, been working my weight back but still pain, switched to sumo last month, huge difference, still need form work and muscle memory, but i repped 2x 405 last week with ease, feel like i can pull way more but wanna take it easy right now, goal is to at least match my squat weight.

target total is 1500 for 2014, 550 DL, 600 squat and 350 bench. target body weight is around 250, really want 225 but that'll take some time and discipline, and that is it my brothers in iron, stay big, stay safe and press on!

ive been lifting as usual, been slacking a little on my diet though. i lost a couple pounds, which isn't good since im bulking.

Same here. Ive been eating more but stepped on the scale Wed. and was 3 lbs. less. It always gives me that "I'm a complete failure feeling."

I've seen lots of people using wrestling shoes for lifting. I really need to get some decent shoes. I'm wearing old worn out Adidas cause they are fairly flat soled shoes. My bench is in the same boat. But I've been working on form and have seen success in the past couple of months. At 275x1 and I want 300x1 solid. I'm also building my deadlift from 315 to 400. Well see what happens.

Fat **** checking in!!!

Glad peeps are still at it. I've been hitting the gym, but nothing crazy.

Maintenance mode for a while. Figured out why I can't squat so until I figure out some new leg "routine", it's the Zopperman workouts for me.

With that said, I did chest, arms and 30 mins of cardio.

My monthly weigh in is Thursday, so I'm hoping for a 5lbs. weight loss.

deload week for me, im aching everywhere, feeling like someone tossed me off a building. should just take a week off but it would drive me nuts.

Went up to 335 on deadlift today. New goal and the weight is getting easier. Still need a weight belt, too broke to buy one with extra bills this month.
Shoulders tomorrow.

That's a solid pull. Still running the Coan workout? If so, what week are you on?

Myself, I haven't done jack. I cannot find the motivation to lift and am afraid that if I start again, I'll just end up hurting something else. I think my muscle strain has healed since I have no pain now, but I still fear re-injury. I suppose I should get over that.

Do it man. You know it'll be good for you. Never hurts to take some time away from the iron...

Good numbers! Keep up the good work. Lots of protein!!!

No, you should honor that and go slow. Lighter weight. You know the drill!

As for me, I finally gave in and went to see the Dr. about my hips and back. Turns out I have "severe" arthritis in my back (S5-L1) and "moderate to severe" arthritis in my right hip. That probably explains the constant popping in my hip and why I can't squat comfortably anymore. Doctor gave me five years till I'll need my hip replaced. Yay....:flipoff:

All of it stems from my knee. I've had a knee problem for years and my ROM was less than ideal, causing my hips to be unbalanced and putting stress on both hips and back.

But! I'm still going to the gym. No more heavy lower body lifts, so I'll focus on being healthy, lifting some weights and finding a way to comfortably working my legs and back without causing more problems.
It's all good though... I'm 45 and lifting heavy really wasn't in the cards anymore anyway. As I said, there's no glory in it anymore. I've done that, got the t-shirt.

I agree with that. What does it achieve? bragging rights amongst your buddies at that moment in time?

Going for the max in any given lift is great, until you permanently injure yourself. Fortunately I never permanently injured myself, I just saw friends that did, and the affect it had and still has on their lives.

Nobody cares how much you can bench, and they won't be there experiencing your pain from joint and soft tissue damage later in life, either.

My advice for anyone new to lifting, is to use more moderate weight to exercise, and avoid life-long pain and complications.

So true. No one (other than weight lifters) ever asks me how much I bench, squat or deadlift. In fact, most folks I know don't even know what a weight room looks like.

That said, I started lifting for myself just so I could feel like I'm good at something in life. I also wanted to compete in a couple of powerlifting competitions. No reasons other than it looked like fun.

I am, just did week 3 yesterday. I've missed an actual week or so, so I'm a little behind. Still working at it though.

Whats up everyone,

It's interesting reading up on different people's personal routines or theory's they have used for working out. Just goes to show you there is no cookie cutter way of doing it for the most part.

Im 26 5'10 190lbs I suffered a severe shoulder dislocation about 2 years ago in a police department defensive tactics training incident. Resulted in 25% permanent bone loss, torn rotor cuff and labrum. had two surgery's and they want to do a third which I have been holding off on.

I worked out on and off from the time I was 21 or so. but getting injured to that degree was a huge set back, mentally and physically.

What started as physical therapy and rehabbing has eventually turned back into lifting. I Still cant do any real shoulder isolating exercises, but I manage to work around it. a year ago I couldn't bench the bar without pain and terrible starter shakes. Ive worked myself back up to 245 for 5. Just as an example. Although I still have good days and bad days based on how my shoulder feels.

I was useing ProComplex protein for a while but I decided to work on loseing a few lbs and switched over to whey gold. I use NOxplode for chest days otherwise I get used to it. Fishoil supplement and multi vitamins. I keep my diet in check without going crazy about it.

Welcome! We're just a group at varying points in our workout lives so jump on in.

Sucks about the shoulder. Sounds like you're on your way back. Keep us posted.

wow I've been on quite a hiatus from this thread....havent stopped working out though.

normal routine for the past month or so:

chest
shoulders/back
arms (bi's/tri's)
legs occasionally (lol zopperman)

been focusing on lower weight higher rep stuff, doing as many as i can rather than as much as i can. I'm leaving the gym more tired and waking up more sore, its a good feeling.

Abs shmabs.

Chest day is every day.

TRUTH

did chest the other day and finally had a pretty good work out. Im starting to really like dumbbell bench.

flat DB bench - 75 LBs 5x6
Incline DB - 55x8, 55x8, 50x8, 50x8
Decline DB - 50x8, 50x8
Cable flies
Dips - 3xfailure
tris

We have a pretty nice gym at my office. Plenty of weights and benches. We have a really nice cable machine, so my chest workout looks a lot like yours, except I go for higher reps and 3 sets typically.
