Looks good from that angle, although I doubt it will come with the new Goodyear Wrangler Kevlar MTR's as pictured. Maybe on the trail team edition but even then I doubt they put $1,000 worth of tires on it.

Looks like we no longer have projector headlights across the board. The basic front looks good...has a 3rd. gen look to it with it's hood and headlights. However, I still would like to see a Trail Edition without the black bumpers..or a Limited with all the Trail Edition's off-road features.

I also find it interesting that Toyota chose a state fair rather than one of the bigger auto shows to debut the 5th gen 4R. Hopefully no one drops their deep-fried, chocolate covered twinkie on it. :lmao:

Yeah, I find that interesting and I'm actually a little surprised they didn't go to HID's, at least as an option or standard on the limited's.

I guess that is how Toyota was able to shave a few grand off of the 5th gens base MSRP. I'm guessing the projector headlights weren't the only thing they did away with to get the 5th gen "back to it's roots".

Maybe we'll see the projectors come back on the mid-generation refresh around 2014......

I agree but I did notice in the specs that the tires on the 5th gen Trail Edition are slighlty upsized to 265/70-17 (instead of the regular 265/65-17 5th gen size). The '09 Trail Edition has the same size tires 265/70-16 as regular 16" wheeled 4th gen T4Rs.
Edit: Now I'm confused, in looking at one of the leaked ordering guides it looks like std equipment is 265/70-17 tires for all the T4Rs w/ 17" wheels, not just the Trail Edition.

It's going "back to it's roots" supposedly, sorry. If you get the 4banger you won't be going fast enough to utilize the projectors anyway I think what they're really doing is just trying to keep the price down as much as possible in the bad economy. We should just be glad if they still come with a CD player and not an 8-track to go along with the new mast antenna
