Oil filter for 2003 V8 Sport 4Runner

I feel like a complete idiot here but I cannot find the oil filter for my V8 4Runner. I have read through many of the posts and can only read how easy it is for a V6 model but cannot seem to find anything regarding the V8 model. Can someone please help???

I've only seen a diagram of the V8 engine... it looks like it's on the bottom of the engine at the front. You should have to pull off the front cover underneath the engine, plus another smaller cover to get at the drain plug near the rear of the engine.

I haven't found a thread about a V8 oil change yet, either. If someone has more specifics or pics, please post.

The oil filter on the V8 is located at the bottom of the engine in the front. If you look down behind the radiator on the driver's side straight down from about where the headlight and the grille meets, you should be able to see part of it from the top. V8 owners have said the skid plate needs to be removed to get it off. If I recall, the filter is mounted about 90 degrees (like a soda can fallen over on its side), and the opening is pointed towards the rear at a slight angle.

Changing the oil on the V8 is terribly easy. You just have to take off the skidplate (4 bolts) and you'll see it. The filter is at an pretty good angle too, so you don't even get your hands dirty when you take it off. It can't get much easier than that.

Thanks for the info on the oil filter. Now I can look like a pro around my wife...
