You need to check your oil level on your dipstick then.
It takes 6.6 quarts but I have just been going with 6.5 and she never burns a drop.

I wish someone FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL would do a writeup on oil changes for the 5th gen... Maybe we could get it into one of those pinned threads.
I have been using 2.5qts of oil, no problems! TOTALLY unrelated, I'm sure. My engine has been making an odd noise and seems to be grinding a bit. Is there a TSB for this?

Mine took 6 quarts and 14 oz.
That 6.6 quart figure I read about in other threads may be based on a dry fill for a new engine. I have never found it purdent to put in the dry fill amount straight away. If mine needs a little more I'll add it after checking oil when engine is at operating temperature.
I first put in 5 1/2 quarts. then ran engine a few minutes, check oil on dipstick and added more oil, repeated and then added a little more. With total as indicated above.
I'm sure everyone knows not to fill or add oil above the top notch when the engine is not up to operating temperature due to thermal expansion of the oil.

Dry fill on a New engine would be the most oil. So, 6.6 -vs- 6qt.14oz. is more.
The numbers in the manual are estimates, to many variables....
My advice to anyone would be 6.5 qts. and then check the dipstick.
A little less is better than a little more but honestly neither are going to cause a problem unless it is extreme.
