I think I know where it's rubbing. Mine does the same only on sharp right turns. Going left it hardly rubs at all if any. I didn't want to lose the mud flaps or do any cutting on the plastic so I ordered a 1" bodylift. Had too many honey-dos over the weekend so I plan to install it within the next day or so. I think if you do that you should have enough clearance.

Im not sure if i like the look of the front bumper not being flush like stock. any thoughts on that?

You can order bumper lift brackets from 4crawler.com for an additional $20 or something to get rid of the gap.

:iagree: get some pics up before throwing more money and parts at this problem. Post a couple of pics and you will get plenty of good suggestions to choose from to get this problem fixed!

Thanks for the pics, although it doesn't look like major rubbing. your pics are very typical of all 3rd gens with 285 tires. Where does it rub again? Im guessing wither the pinch weld, or the frame at full lock and maybe your front bumper too, but not much. Theres not much you can do about the frame, except just not turn as hard, but the pinch weld you can smash flat, and no one would ever know the differance, really! A body lift may help with the pinch weld and the front bumper, but trimming is easier. If you are rubbing on the frame at full lock a body lift wont help at all. IMO your best bet not to rub (without getting smaller tires) is to do some trimming.
I have a 2.5" lift in the front, a heavy winch bumper, and springs with over 200k so I know what you mean about the rubbing; and I did rub at the pinch weld before I smashed it flat, and on my stock bumper too (trimmed it as well) and I still rub a little on the frame at full lock, but that is mainly when I'm off road.

Thank you, its definitely NOT a pinch weld or frame, Its just that corner of the bumper. Its not horrible, BUT it sounds really bad. If I am going downhill, turning at higher speeds, or braking while turning...anything that causes the front to dive a little!
Going to keep my eye out for 99 front coils with low miles as well. i think I do have some sag, as mentioned before.
Oh and I just might do the body lift anyway! hahahahahaha
I am going to trim it this weekend for sure...

yeah, pretty sure the rake you got is a little extreme due to the front coils. you put some better coils and it wont dive as much and your prob will be solved. mine did the same thing on bad coils with 2.5 inch poly spacers. I prob only had 1" of true lift cuz of that. Body lift isnt a bad idea, but not entirely positive that you will need it. try putting some fresh 99 talls in there and see if that doesnt clear your tires enough.

I have the same problem, minor trimming cured daily driving but it's the rake. I am going to add a 3/4 to 1" spacer to the top of my 881's which will level it out then I will be adding a 1 - 1.5" BL to cover the rub while 4wheeling. Spacers with stock springs just don't cut it. After being on this forum and viewing what everyone else has and has done I would recommend either OME 882's or adjustable coil-overs when running 285's.
