I'm impressed... 3 pages and not a single one of you geezers shouted "GET OFF MY LAWN!" :lol:

Apparently I'm still a yung 'un at 40. I remember a day when I thought people who were 40 were old. I feel I'm at that stage where my mind still tells me I can do everything I did at 18... but when I try my body says "I'm not so sure about this!" And the next day, the body will occasionally be screaming "I TOLD YOU SO!!" :crutch:

I recall believing that 18 year olds were grown up.

I remember when I was 12 or 13 thinking "When I get to be 18, I'm going to do what I want since I'll be an adult and free!"

When I got there, LIFE pointed and laughed at me saying "Pfft! Yeah, right! THAT ain't happening!"

I think I'm 60. At 58-59 I started noticing the short term memory having some static. Frustrating. It continues.

Just returned to a fun 4x4. Haven't had one since my college days when I ran around in my beige FJ40. Loved that vehicle. The last few years I was close to pulling the trigger on an FJ Cruiser but the timing wasn't right and the FJ didn't quite work for me. The 4Runner fits the bill perfectly. Can't wait to have fun again.

I just hope I remember how to get home.

Hell I remember when I was 20 something thinking wouldn't make it to 30 then just see 2000 roll over now who the hell knows just keep waking up !

I shared that feeling, figured I wouldn't make it to 30 but now my kids have made it past 30. I'm now the guy telling people "lift with your legs!" But they don't listen. Oh well, no sense in beating a dead horse, they'll understand someday.

This struck home with me this morning. I woke up (always a good thing) and remembered I was going to hit a trail today with my son today. One of those "Oh sh!t I forgot moments." While wondering how I lost a day I looked at the morning paper and realized what day it really was! Damn, I don't like that.

On getting old - a friend's father whose real old has a standard replacement for the standard "Goodnight" and now ends his day with "Hope to see you in the morning."

Last weekend I was up in Michigan at an annual off road ride casually organized by a bunch of folks. Some of these guys had been riding this area for decades upon decades.

Guy's in their mid 70's with tighter dirt bikes than mine and likely faster, toughing it out on tight single track all day long.

I hope to be riding single track on a lightweight KTM when I'm 75 years old. Those guys are badasses. I think the trick is to never stop the adventure.

Old guy here 56 next month. My father is 81 and drives a 2008 T4R V8 Limited. Life is like a roll of toilet paper. It goes faster towards the end.

Absolutely! I lost Mom a few months ago. They were married 69 years. It's hit him and us pretty hard. I know his day is coming and I dread it.

Almost 62 and just retired. Taking it easy for the past few weeks and trying to decide if I want to start another fulltime Job or start collecting SS in a few months from now.

I'm of the belief in taking what you can, when you can. I took SS at 62 and haven't looked back. You can take SS and still work, just have to watch how much you make and what's allowed. I haven't looked lately so I have no idea what limits on income there are these days.

Wow, 69 years together, how great is that! Spend time with your dad now while you can, more time if you already see him often.

My mother outlived my father by 27 years but I saw the end coming and took the time to spend more time with her since she lived nearby. My wife and I took her out for lunch on Mother's Day, she died 20 minutes after we returned from lunch.

Seize the moment, it may be your last chance.

Nice that you still get out! I'm hopeful I will still be wheeling in another 10 years but I honestly doubt this old body will hold out that long though. I'm beginning to feel like I'm coming up to a wall before too long so I'm getting out as often as possible. In reality I'm probably going about it all wrong and should be taking it easier these days to make it longer.
