OME 882 vs. 883

Ok.......I called and talked to ARB in the Washingtom office today regarding spring rates and lengths. The 882 is infact the same rate as the 881, only difference is the height which is a 20mm difference. They are "heavy load", not heavy duty. They're designed to carry additional weight by being taller. The 883's are the heavy duty coil because of the addtional spring rate.

yeah i'm doing the 882's and top outs I guess. He said there might not be enough down travel but there are alot of people running them

barely any downtravel, but they work.

By that theory, wouldn't 881s feel the same as 882s then because they are the same spring rate but just taller? You'd think so, but a "butt" test will tell you they definitely don't ride the same. I know at least one person in particular that went from 881s to 882s and the ride was much stiffer - stiffer than my 883s too.

Bringing that old thread back to life.

Currently running the 881s and after putting my ARB Bumper the front seats lower than the rear, which has the heaviest duty OME springs.

If I plan on adding a winch down the road, should I go 883s in order to have a spring that compresses less and seats as tall as my 881s did BEFORE I installed the ARB Bumper?

I had 881s in the front and 891s in the rear. With my CBI hybrid, my front was almost 1.5" lower than the rear. I just switched to 883s and it leveled me right out. I personally think it now rides better than the 881s.

I sit approx. 24" hub to fender all around.

Im also running tundra 5100s set on the second perch up front. No winch either.

I've got the Bilstein 5100's with the 882's in front.

Without the front addicted offroad plate bumper, its jumpy but with the bumper installed (winch coming soon as well) its quite smooth and responsive.

My buddies are running 883's and they like them.

Anybody here run an 882/890 pair? I'm curious if you get any rake if so. Would also like to hear of the load bearing capabilities of the 882 - I got a 60lb bumper than I dont want to cause sagging.
