OME BP-51 Suspension System -- Anyone yet?

Hey Carlos, did u adjust the height of the collars or are they as sent from OME?
Hey Lava rocks,

I left them stock (almost an inch of threads exposed).

I added up the weight of my 2nd battery, twin compressor, winch, bar (installing next week) and partial weight of my rack, then called ARB for a reference on what weight the preload was set for when shipped.

ARB said those coilovers are set for 20mm (which I already knew since I had just measured them). When pressed for an approximate weight that a 20mm preload corresponded to, ARB said ~230lbs of constant weight (full bar+winch).

Once my SSO Slimline bar and winch are in next week I'll be slightly over 230 total lbs of aftermarket parts up front. The ride is a *little* stuff up front now at factory compression/rebound settings, but should be just right after the bar and winch are on.

If it's still too stiff after the install, I'll just dial down the compression a click or two until it's where I want it.

-- As promised, pre/post install measurements attached below --

Rear: 36 1/8 in

Rear diff (floor to bottom of diff)
9 3/4in

Post lift/tires (Cooper STT Pro @ 285/70/17)

Center of wheel to fender
Front: 23 4/8 in driver
23 5/8 in passenger

Rear: 24 4/8 in driver
24 5/8 in passenger

Floor to fender:
Front: 38 4/8 in
Rear: 39 3/8 in

Rear diff
10 3/4 in

Looks great! Mine goes in on Monday for install. What I want to know is why you sit so much taller than me when we have very similar builds, other than I have sliders and a full set of aluminum skids. That's less than 200# total though, probably only 150#.

Here are my quick and dirty rough numbers:
(275/70 K02s @ ~38 PSI)
FL:
34" ground to fender
19.25" center to fender

FR:
34.25" ground
19.5" center to fender

RL:
35.25" ground
20.5" center

RR:
35 3/8" ground
20 5/8" center

Thanks man! You're going to love it -- post up some pics once it's on!

Height differences comparing stock to stock (ground to fender) measurements?

I'm not sure, but looks to be about an inch difference (my stock height on 265s vs yours on 275s). I'm guessing here, but suspect the difference is my stock numbers were with a TRD Pro stock suspension vs. the TEP stock suspension. Completely a guess on my part though.

Oh, right! I wasn't accounting for the TRD Pro difference. So hopefully I'll have similar numbers afterwards. I'm only getting 895 springs in the rear until I add a rear bumper.

I hear you on the springs. I went with the 889s (mid duty 200-400lb loads) since I run my fridge, slide, tools, basic gear/recovery/go-bag in the back day-to-day.

Not sure that I'll ever step up to the 898s even after the rear bar goes on. They're spec'd for something like 450lbs of constant load and I just don't run that kind of weight for 99% of my time (daily driving and/or long trips).

Now you have me reconsidering... I run fridge (currently no slide) and my tools and recovery gear, say around 125# total, plus bike rack.

Yeah, so I just called Slee and switched to 889s :) Looks like the same spring rate just 10 mm taller than the 895s.

Probably a good call man.

I dialed down my compression and rebound in the rear last night to take some of the stiffness of the 889s out. One of the things that drew me to the BP51s in the first place was the option to tune them up/down based on what I was doing/loads at any given time.

OME kit

Hey all im new to the forum .

I was the guinea pig to have the BP51 OME kit test fit on my 2016 Trail w/ KDSS. ARB USA is local and I was fortunate that my dealership hooked me up. It's a 3" lift but sits with a slight rake for now. I will have it leveled when I pick up a new set of shoes.

:suspicious: Not sure what drugs you are on, but you're definitely not the guinea pig. it's already been done multiple times.

Lol , the reason why I don't interact on forums.

Anyways I was told that ARB wanted to test fit "brackets" specific to the 5th gen KDSS before officially releasing it. Maybe I was misinformed or misunderstood. Regardless I got a killer deal.

I will try to have pics up tonight. I just picked her up yesterday.

EDIT: Also it was installed and aligned with stock UCAs

Yes, please post pics and any details. I'm slated to get the FJ kit installed on Monday -- although if they're still just test-fitting then an actual production release is probably still a ways out anyway.

I was under the impression that installing it on my rig was the last step before releasing it. OME and ARB communicated throughout the install and test, for about a week. You should definitely contact them to verify. I heard all this 3rd party from the dealership.

This is probably what I will be buying as well, am just finalizing what sliders, skid, winch, bumper will be going on at the same time. Was proactive and just put money down on the arb snorkel to get one from this run. Looking forward to having it ready for spring/summer camping. :)

Good stuff.

This is definitely a new bracket. Strange that the dealer(?) didn't install the reservoir behind the fender liner.

Now the real question: are the struts a different part number than the FJ kit (I.e., different valving and/or C/O spring rates) or just different brackets?
