OME lift (Front: 884/90000, Rear: 895E/60004)

Thanks for the good info guys and the great review. I've been in the market for an OME lift and have heard the OME giving differents amounts of lift based on how much your suspension is sagging, etc.

How long does it normally take for the OME to settle? I park in a garage for work and have about 4 1/2 - 5 inches of clearances currently and with the number of scraps on the cement beams every inch counts!

Updated with pictures.

How long does it take? I'm not very sure, as I towed after only a week of the new suspension, but I'd estimate that after a few weeks it would settle, and in a few months the ride would really mellow out.

Jeff, I'm also looking to do an OME lift very soon. On toytecs website, it indicates 895e are for 03-09 runners and 895 are for '10 runners. but you mentioned you went with 895e because its more comfortable, is it possible to use the 895 in the 4th gen runners?

I'm also debating between the 884 v. 885 in the front, how is in the front with 884 so far? How does it compare to stock? And do you normally drive around with weight in the back? If not, how is the 885e with an empty trunk?

Thanks!

If you've got stock bumpers, you'll want either the 895e (1" lift is what they list) or a better option IMO are the Toytec Superflex (2" lift) rear coils. For the front, it depends on your engine. Use 884's for a stock weight v6. Use 885's for a stock weight v8 or v6 with bumpers. Use 886's for a v8 with bumpers.

Jeff and ARK,

I installed 884/895E two weeks ago, since then, I have driven approx 1,000 highway miles.

Just as a background, I was hoping for 2.5/2 setup as I wanted a little rake. I ordered the parts from Toytec.

Two weeks after lift, I feel like its a tad nose high for my taste. The front of the running boards are 1/4 inch higher than the back measuring from the ground up. However, measuring from hub to fender, the front is 1/4-1/2 lower than the rear. So i guess theres still a little rake if you take that measurement, but i feel the running board to ground measure is a better measure.

I called Toytec and they told me the 895E is suppose to only give 1 1/2" as opppose to 2" for the 895. My measurements confirm this.

I'm hoping the front settles another 1/4-1/2". You guys think it will?

Sorry for the long post!

Cmoney, I experience some initial settling, but after a year it looks the same. I'm level still with no rake.

JSimmons, the pictures were taken in Montana in the Fall.

Year Update

It's been a year now and 6,000 miles or so. Many trips taken and off-roading adventures. Wanted to give an update. First, I love the new suspension. I like my setup. The slightly bigger than stock tires have only taken a small hit to the MPG. Athetically, I really want to add bigger tires, but I take so many roadtrips that I just can't justify it. The Michelin tires have held up really good off the road, even though they're straight road tires.

To the suspension, they never really settled as much as I thought. Empty my 4Runner rides over bumps almost like a truck would. The suspension is great though. I've gone some crazy places out in the middle of nowhere Montana and have yet to worry about clearance. What a difference over the stock suspension (that was constantly bottoming-out). A big group of friends and I went up a trail for some overnight fun. On one trip it was just me and my gear. On another trip I had my 4Runner stocked full of people and camping gear. I'm talking stuffed. With that much weight, I could really feel the ride smooth out.

I'm glad I got the lift. Some people know its higher than normal, but it really blends in well, which is what I wanted. I could see how this can be addicting though, as I've faught the urge to get bigger tires. If I ever buy a car as a DD, then I'm going to go for it.

Just wanted to schime in on this setup and ask around for possible changes to help others out. I recently did a 884 front 895E rear setup on my 07 T4R with bilstein 5100s all around. I wanted a lift to get the looks and I wanted better ride quality all together but this truck is not going to get heavily modified, more of a daily driver and expedition type vehicle.

Here are my first reactions: After much research and just like ARK said, the 895Es are the same stiffness as the regular 895s just shorter. This, for me, means the car looks practically level or even a tad nose high, but more importantly it means the ride is meant to have additional accesories in the rear to be soft and compliant. With no weight I feel its actually harsh.

So here are my questions, for use with no modifications and sporadic added weight to the trunk (some 200lbs) but looking into a better ride with all my gear and people in the car for expeditions. Did i make the wrong decision with my rear springs? It looks like the Toytec 2" are a better option for what i am looking for. Would I feel the difference by swapping the 895Es to Toytecs and adding some sort of an airlift system in order to not get saggy suspension when fully loaded?

Has anyone done this? Thanks for the help!

Here are a few cell phone pics of the car. I will take measurments today or tomorrow.

Wondering if anyone else out there is running this setup?

I am running a full OME setup. I initially installed as the OP had, 884/895e. I found that with that setup my hub to wheel well was 23" up front, 23.25" rear, essentially level. My issue is that it drove and looked nose high. I called ARB and spoke with them. They said 895e were not intended to be paired with 884s. That would give rake on a 4th gen V6. They said 883s were proper pairing up front. Just like 895 and 895e, the 883 and 884 are same spring rates they are just 10mm or 1/2" difference in height. Current ride heights are 22" and 23ish" with front DS trim making it level.
I love the ride and am very happy with the purchase. I am not a rock crawler so the kit does what I ask very well. I have not installed UCAs and am just out of oem spec for caster but no noticable performance or wear effects. CV angle is much better at this setup than with 884s.

Thank you very much for this information! So just to clarify, that in the picture below, you are sitting on the 883's in the front?

I was in the same boat as MN4RNR.

I felt that the front end was a tad nose high. Here is a picture with 884/895E installed:

I have recently swapped out the 884 for 883 springs though. Now the front end is slightly lower.

I lost exactly 1" up front swapping them out. Make sense as it seems it is 2:1 on change in height/change in spring/spacer height.

Wheels look great! What are they?

For reference, here is also my 883/895e set up

They are Level 8 "MK6" wheels (from discount tire) with FJ TRD oem center caps.

Appreciate the information guys. Can you guys also clarify what shock/struts you're running? Reason I ask is because I have Bilstein 5100's and they are height adjustable in the front.

I want

I got a 2006 limited 2wheel drive that needs new set up. I want to keep the factory rake but want a lift all around of 1.5-2inches. Was this achieved with the OME 883/895E?
