OME Spring Question/Suggestions

Hello all!

I am about to pull the trigger on a few things and wanted to get your input!

My rig is a 2000 SR5 4WD V6.

Right now, it has Bilsteins all around and 99 highlander springs. The current tire size is 265/75/R16.

My plans are to drive this truck on fire roads and gravel roads only. I plan on going out west and doing some easy trails and I also plan on driving the Trans-Labrador HWY (The longest stretch of unpaved road in the world).

I am going to be fully loaded with a lot of gear. Approx. estimates put me at 500 LBS of gear.

***THE PLAN***

I wish to keep the Bilsteins.

I plan swapping the springs out for the following:

OME 881's for the FRONT
OME 891's for the REAR

I plan on going with a 255/88 R16 BFG MT tire.

Any issues or concerns that you all see?

I have taken a good look at everything I seem to have plenty of brake line slack to accommodate the lift.

As stated, I am interested in rock clawing/heavy "offroading". So I am not worried about "flex".

Thanks everyone!

Other than riding a little stiff you should be good to go.

Awesome! Thanks!

My truck is stock otherwise. I know it would be preferred to have the Diff drop/Pan Hard drop.

Would it be "safe" to add those items later/after the springs?

Thanks!

With a 2" lift you really dont need anything else. Just longer shocks. Stock brake lines, panhard, sway bar links, ebrake line and CV's should be fine. When you get to 3"+ these become more of an issue.

I just replaced my springs and spent some time talking to the tech at ARB beforehand. I'd consider 906's unless your ok with an awful ride unloaded but it's a trade off for sure. I have Bilsteins HD 4600's. Which shocks do you have ? If you call them they pick right up and are very knowledgeable. http://www.arbusa.com/uploads/PDF/accessorizeYourRig/toyota4Runner.pdf
2'' lift created caused no problems to otherwise stock 01' ride on my end.

I am not sure what the Bilsteins are. I know they are bilsteins. lol! I will check tomorrow in the morning.

The previous owner put the bilsteins and the 99 tall springs on at the same time.

This rig is going to be my wife and I's "overland" rig and not so much a daily driver. So I do not mind it being a rough ride for the minimal times it will be driven to any extent unloaded with gear.

Will these springs "work" with any bilstein shock? Maby better with a particular one?

What color are they ? Yellow and blue are the 4600's. The 5100's are adjustable and chrome and black.

Would there be any other recommendations? I want to fit a 255/85r16 tire and keep the rear end as leve as possible with the 500+lbs of gear in the back.

And, I may be doing a rear steel bumper with swing outs within the next year also!

Thanks all!!!!

You are good to go the 5100's will give additional ride height if needed. Have a great trip sounds fantastic. Send pics too or it didn't happen!

My first lift on the rear of my 4Runner was 891 springs and bilstein 5100s with 32" tires . Currently I have LC 7 wraps and 255 85R16s . The 891s actually rode very good just not tall enough for me . Someone I talked to that had tried 891s and 906 springs said the 891s felt better . One thing though , I would reconsider the tire size . Don't get me wrong , 255 85R16 is a great tire size but it will rub and you will want to regear, you don't have to but you'll want to . Another thing to consider is were to carry the spare with a 33.4 inch tire.
