On Board Air, cheap and durrable

So I burned up two of those "Slime" inflators that you can find in all the parts stores. I went from the medium grade to the best that they carried and both burned up within 5 min while laying in snow.

Oreilly's up here has some good folks and they took them both back and suggest that I just bite the bullet and go with an ARB. I wanted to try one more time and got the best one in the store.

:blah: It works and well. We filled sixteen 35" tires in 1hour. From 6 or 10psi back up to 35psi. Pretty impressive little fella. I did keep dumping snow on it to keep it cool and that's all it needed. If you don't do that then it's duty cycle is 45min.

So it has volume but will it operate the newly installed ARB locker. Not a problem! Got it to lock with only 40psi in under 1 sec. Takes about one second to hit max of 150psi. It got my 7gal tank to 100psi in about 3min.

I'll get more pics when I figure out the mounting/plumbing/electrical situation. Right now it is hard wired to the battery with included in-line fuse. I'm going to add an in-line switch and leave the switch on the compressor in the on position. Easy stuff

Edit- Before Rob rat's me out I have to say that when I claimed 16 tires in 1hr, it was only 15.5 tires. We turned one of the burned up pumps loose on a tire to see how many I could fill while it worked on one. Superflow got 8 inflated before that thing let all the magic smoke out at 20psi. :target: It had already let some out from the first five minutes I used it. Epic POS!

hahaha i wouldn't rat you out! The other pumps didn't count anyway, they were worthless. I'll stand by the 16 tires in an hour. Hell, you sold me on that pump and I went and bought one lol... 3 year warranty too

4min a tire SUCKS:smow:. get a york. i can air up faster then i can air down pulling the core.

If I was needing real speed I'd just rent a 3000psi SCUBA tank and call it a day. One of my buddies does that and it last him about a year. I'm not sure about what the regulator was set at but of course there wasn't a 3000psi open transfer. Got 35x12.50R17 Pitbulls from 6psi to 35psi in under a minute. Had a York running right next to me airing up 37's and he was still at about 3min a tire. The York IS really good but it's no $58 project. It's still an option in the future.

So as long as I do NOT mod the MV-50, I can just take it back for an exchange if it does burn up. 3yr warrfanty FTW:trophy:

My local Oreillys has them in stock but they have jacked up the price to $78. Looks like ill be buying one elsewhere. Looks like a nice little compressor for weekend warriors.

Any dry piston pump isn't going to last long. I'd be surprised if you can get over 50 hours out of it.

scuba tanks are good so are co2, but you have to refill them and i know scuba tanks fill 7 to 10 37" tires from single digit to 25 psi. and depending on were you get them filled and certified it can add up quick.


my york fills my 35 up from 6psi to 36 psi in 1minute 30 seconds

50 hours is far longer than that pump will ever see from anyone who uses it when they wheel. Who the hell fills up 16 tires on the trail in one hour anyway? Thats 4 vehicles that blew out all their tires.

lol no, that's Jon with his compressor and myself, Stoke and our friend Ryan with no compressor at the time on a snow run where we aired down to 7psi and Jon filled up everyone's tires on the way back.

A cool mod would be some method to add a drop of oil into the cylinder once in a while. It would last much longer, increase compression and run cooler.
