On-Board-Air Setup. Quick check?

Hey everyone. So I am in the process of gathering things for my on-board air setup and I was hoping someone could check my thinking before I take the plunge and forget something important. Here is the parts list I am currently looking at:

-ARB Twin Compressor
-80A Circuit Breaker (To go between the compressor and battery)
-4Ga or 6Ga wiring for said circuit breaker

I'm also gonna get the pump up kit too. I already have the air gauge, so that should be the last thing I need. Is there anything major/vital I am forgetting in this setup or anything I need to change? Thanks!

I have no idea what the cost of doing it that way but I'd suggest comparing your costs against something like PowerTank which is very efficient though pricey.
 
The ARB twin comes pre wired with (2) 40 amp fuses. One for each side if you will. The harness that was included reached from my battery to the back PS where I mounted the compressor. Hope this helps
 
If you don't get a tank it isn't going to be that great. Even a small tank will make a huge difference.

I am starting out with just the compressor, but the brackets I have give me the option of adding a 1gal tank in the future. I am going to try it without the tank, but if it isn't up to par, then I'll add the tank.

Oh, ok. So since the fuses are pre wired, I just need to run the harness like normal to my battery and everything will be good to go?
 
Yea it comes with a switch but I am going to be replacing it with another one that fits the other switches I have in my console. Thanks.
It would be very annoying to move between switch and pressure gauge. I'd rather think about some automation (this implies tank and auto-pressurizing it) or locating switch somewhere near gauge.
I've got ordinary compressor with switch on it's case and I say that it's freaking inconvenient.

I'm not 100% sure what you mean. So I have a literal switch that is going to be used to turn the compressor on and off. As for the pressure gauge thing, I have the ARB Tire Inflator thing. I have never used it for inflating my tires yet, but it is what I use to bleed my tires. From what I have seen, it looks like I connect the line from the compressor to the pressure gauge, and then the gauge to the tire in order to inflate. Is that proper thinking or no?

I mean different locations of switch and something to inflate. You will need to run between these two locations. I have ordinary compressor that I connect to battery. Length of connecting wires is not enough to get compressor near wheel to inflate (e.g. rear right). So I have to run between compressor and wheel to check pressure or switch on/off. It's annoying me.
I'd like to install tank that is kept under pressure by compressor switched on demand.

Ok I think I understand what you are saying. If my compressor is mounted under my hood, wouldn't the following process work though?

After a day of wheeling or whatever, I pop the hood, attach my air hose and inflator with pressure gauge. Then I go in to the cab and flip the switch to turn the compressor on. Wouldn't I be able to reach all 4 wheels with a 20ft hose. And then when I am done, hit the switch to turn the compressor off, undo the hose/inflator and go on my way?
 
Doesn't the ARB air compressor come with a pressure switch already? If not, you can simply use an air chuck that is normally open to inflate your tires. Otherwise if you use a normally closed air chuck, then the compressor simply runs and runs and runs and will not know when to stop by itself, this will cause something to go pop.

Yea I will likely get an open air chuck as well. With the ARB inflator, it says it has an "Internal Air Shutoff Valve". Even though it is a closed air chuck, won't that shut off valve prevent the compressor from constantly running and prevent the "pop". Or am I completely wrong?

EDIT: Yes it does have an internal pressure switch that regulates it between 135 and 150PSI. Does that mean my closed chuck air inflator will work without a pop?

Got it. It think it's ok unless compressor has any restrictions for continuous working. Though, they tend to overheat when working continuously.

It is rated for 100% duty cycle. One of the main reasons it sounds so appealing. I think I'll just try it with the closed chuck and see what happens lol.

You are correct, the compressor will turn on and off based on the pressure switch settings. So you're normally closed air chuck will work just fine for this application.
