Only KDSS w/lift need apply

I'm new around here. This thread was awesome. I hope to tinker with some kind of on/off switch within a year. As mentioned above, looks like there's only a single +/- going into it.

BTW, I was shocked that there was any electrical component at all in KDSS. I thought it was totally hydraulic/mechanical action.

RIP OP.... We need a volunteer to let his memory live on.

i might make this, does anyone know where the ECU is so I can intercept?

Bump but not for a kit. Could someone please explain to the less technically inclined of us what wire we would need to put a switch on in the above diagram and what we would need to connect it to? Bonus points for amperage but I could figure that out with a multimeter I think.

What about this connector at the control unit? Any idea where to get one to make a harness for the switch?

Sub’d. I need to look into this. I hate the kdss. Should have paid more to not have it in the pro lol.

Is there even an option to have a trd off road ( premium or not) with out kdss for 2019? My main thing was to have the manual transfer case lever over the auto selector even tho I’m sure I could have just swapped that [emoji2359][emoji24]

In some markets they only sell KDSS, but in general yes KDSS is an option that you paid a lot more for

The transfer case lever doesnt really add much because the front axle disconnect is still electronic, so jot sure why that was the selling point for you.

I love the KDSS though, I think the 4Runner handles like absolute trash without it

Funny thing is I had to search forever to find T4R Off Road in stock in Florida. Finding one with KDSS was almost impossible. The dealer I purchased it from had 42 4Runners and only four were 4x4. One of those had KDSS and none of the sales people or other dealer employees even knew what it was. Should be fun if I ever need KDSS repairs.

Ultimately I love the KDSS ride on road. Off road it works fine mostly. Just wish it didn't stiffen up when traveling fast off road.

I am aware about the front axle being electronically connected but having another electronically connected part at the top of transfer case is just another thing that can go wrong and I have experienced it in other platforms. Just not this one yet. And don’t plan to since I have then manual transfer case lever.

So I just want to confirm when you unplug the harness from the kdss system just below the drivers door , it indeed puts your kdss system in the softer setting. So much more enjoyable to drove around town and even on the dirt. And also not just one crossed up sections where your suspension has to articulate. Even when hitting dips when both wheels are compressing. You would think it doesn’t matter but I’m going to bet that in that setting , the kdss shock / link gives a little.

I need to make a switch ASAP.

Next I need to figure out this traction control switch deal.

Swapped out my rear shocks/springs (stiffer springs and shocks needed rebuild) this afternoon and came to the conclusion that I'll probably be removing the KDSS sways/compressing the pistons. I think a few others here have done that without issues, and apparently it's pretty simple.

Bump for this. I’ve personally ridden in Dom’s rig and can confirm the plushness of the limp mode KDSS. Hope the switch gets made soon!

I’ve got it figured out. I’m literally just trying to refine the whole switch setup and having to make the plugs is really the hardest part. But I’m getting there. Thanks man.

Ill be the first to drive over there to pick one up once you finish making it lol

Once you get this all good I hope you either sell a plug and play kit or a nice write up with part #s for connectors!

I just ripped some rough roads with my new suspension today. Overall the ride was pretty darn nice but putting the KDSS in limp mode would be even better!
