Open Exhaust

Tomorrow i will be getting a small section of piping in front of the Manifold cut out to get rid of the catback. But still have the possibility of putting that small section back in with clamps if i want to go back. Anyone see any problems with my thought.

PS i will not be keeping it like this all the time i just want to have the option to make it sound bada** lol

Yea. HE is talking about keeping the cat in place, but running straight.

If you are, just FYI, depending on where you live it is illegal. Unless you intend to still run through the muffler, you are going to be very, very loud.
 
Im talking about the part behind the cats and the part infront of the manifold. so i can have the option of disconnecting the stock catback if that what its called. I may be using the wrong words but you get the idea.

Yea i just want to be able to have the option, and im not planning on keeping it like that on the street. just to take it off when my friends say that the runners are pointless family crossovers. They dont know much about cars

Im not one to care if its legal or will annoy your neighbors because you're a grown adult, but if you run open right off the header you run the risk of possibly burning up an exhaust valve.

With that being said, post up vids!

You'd also be amazed at the amount of damage 1000-1200 degrees of exhaust coming out of an open system can do to the surrounding areas.

Ask why I know.

Why not have a qtp cut out? I run a full exhaust (long tube headers and urd y pipe) with the stock catback and it actually is very well mannered.

im just taking the catback out so no burnt exhaust valves here and a video will be up tomorrow night.
But does anyone see a problem with using clamps ?

u mean the y pipe after the cat? i think he is talkin about y pipe now, what exhaust u have now? if its a borla, get that resonator off and have them put new pipe to replace that part. if u only have a muffler, did u try to upsize the pipes? i run 3 inch from that flange off the y pipe.

hummm?

Wish I could run mine like this but our cops here are smart enough to know its cats are gone by its sound. They even carry co2 sniffers with them to check if a cars smog is too high. Glad someone can get by with it though...lol
A few yrs back a friend of mine with a 78 Thunderbird was checked here and some how it passed?? His had duels out to bumper, cats were on it but were all gutted out so no ticket was written. I'm not ever that lucky..
