Opinion needed, headers or oem?

Hey guys, first the run down:

I was at the shop getting my truck serviced and they found an issue with my 02 sensor, downstream bank one. Got that replaced which left us with another code, downstream bank one and bank two catalyst.

Which catalyst is downstream? I'm guessing its just the cats at the "Y" pipe end that both need to be replaced?

Second, I was thinking of getting Doug Thorley headers and a y pipe instead of buying new cats for the same price. What do you guys think? Any pros and cons ?

I have an 03 v6.

Downstream should be the second 02 Sensor. It's between the primary Cat that is connected to the manifold and the secondary Cat that is part of the Y-Pipe. I'm in the same boat and am also considering the Thorley Headers and a Y-Pipe... I'm actually hoping that URD will make one for my V8.

Just my $0.02 but I'd go with the Headers, a single set of good cats, and the y-pipe. Seems like people who have done that like it.

I am thinking that as well, and that it should give me more HP and better part quality than OEM. Seems like a no brainer. Do most go with the short headers then or the long header as I'm not sure if you still need cats on the long header?

I'm unsure as to what the best / most popular option is for the V6's. I think all of us V8 owners are just excited to have any after market header option! I'd go with whatever can get you a single cat on each side. That way you won't have to deal with the CEL issues and should "theoretically" have no issues with e-testing.

Thats true, I just noticed you're from Ontario as well!:bounce:

Yeah glad to hear V8s have that option...I wish I had a v8 now lol
