Found a 2012 Limited with JBL Audio, 3rd Row and Automatic Running Boards. 42,000 is the asking price from 45,500. Is the 42,000 a good price for the options?

Automatic running boards? Did they get those now?? I want some.

Sorry, not too familiar with Limited pricing. Is it 4x4? Look up what their invoice price is using a website and go from there.

Low ball the crap out of them and the worst they can do is look at you dumb. After you talk to enough dealers, you should know what the general market is looking like.

4WD? where are you located? 42K doesn't sound too bad for a 4WD with those options. Check out truecar.

I got a sales guy in AZ who is bugging the crap out of me to buy a 12 LE 4X4 with JBL no running boards in black for $39,000 + cost so errrrr maybe not.

The OP mentioned automatic running boards and 3rd row. The invoice for these two options is $2549. Add that to your 39k = $41549, pretty close to 42k.

Your dealer is eating about $300 of his $812 holdback for your deal.. sounds pretty good to me. But if you add that back into OP's deal we are even closer to $42K.

I'm not saying you should stop negotiating. You might be able to get a bit more out of them. But $42k is a fair price.

Yeah I would tell them you didn't really want the running boards and are willing to walk over the price difference. They won't eat the whole cost, but if there's any room to wiggle, they will. Or they'll find you one without them at a lower price.

The only problem is in the Baltimore area they come with ENTUNE stock. I want just the JBL as an option and was told it would be 40,000 to order the vehicle.

That seems like BS but I hear these Toyota divisions can be quirky like that...

So why not just order it and get exactly what you want for the price you want?

If you're in Baltimore, check out the Carmax Toyota dealership in Laurel. I was right at 40k for mine from there. I didn't get the 3rd row or running boards on my limited though.

I would definitely scrap the running boards. Add the thickness of the running boards to the already thick rocker panels on the LE/SR5 and the ground clearance really suffers. I sold the running boards within a few months. My (then) 7-year old had no problem getting into the truck without them.

Not sure it will make your price difference, but it will take a bit out of it. The websites the others have suggested are good things. Go into the dealer with a folder & some papers covering the actual dealer costs of the model line & options and they'll generally steer clear of trying to snow you. They'll still screw you on your trade (if applicable), but they'll be more honest about "invoice" pricing. Edmunds.com has some GREAT information about working with the dealer in a fair manner.
